I am going to be putting together a media/file server in the very near future and am trying to figure out what I want to do for a PSU.
Here is a list of what I will be powering.
Case: Norco RPC-4020 server case (expansion for up to 21 drves total)
PSU: ?
Board: Abit IC7-G
Chip: Intel P4 2.8C
RAM: 1GB Corsair XMS PC 3200
HDD: (9) 1TB WD Green Drives
HDD Controller Card: Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 (SATA x 8 card)
DVD Drive: LITE-ON Slim 8X DVD Burner
I am thinking of either a Corsair HX620, Corsair 750TX, or PCP&C S75QB 750W PSU.
I was told that I should be getting a PSU with (1) 12V rail as to not overload the PSU when all 9 drives start at once. I was also told that the Corsair HX620 actually has only (1) 12V rail.
As a side note I plan on upgrading my current desktop well before I get to the 21 HDD's that the case will hold, so buying a PSU that will power the specs I posted above will be fine as I can replace it with a more powerful PSU down the road.
Thanks for the help.
