Well, I've recently upgraded to c2d setup and thinking now of how to cool it (running stock intel cooler right now). I watercooled my old p4 rig with TDX/D4/DangerDen single heatercore on a Radbox, everything was fine but the damn res I had in the loop had to tendency to crack at the seam - not surprisingly dangerden decided to stop selling those stupid reservoirs
Anyways, I'm torn b/n top aircooler (like Thermalright Ultra 120 or Tuniq Tower) and reviving watercooling setup... I can certainly re-use D4 and HC but I prolly need another waterblock - I don't want to mess with changing tops on TDX, I guess, and this time I'll go for a t-line, I'm done with reservoirs... I'll prolly want to replace my old tubing, get a T and quick disconnects, and a fillport. I also want to get Fuzion. So, all in all, it runs almost a $130-$140 or so for the upgrade. Now, my questions:
1) Is it worth running oc'ed C2d with d4/single DD HC/fuzion? I mean is that sufficient? I don't plan to watercool my video, just the cpu
2) Is the above setup more efficient than a top aircooler or do I need a better rad/pump? I mean, I don't want to shell out another $250 on watercooling, as I already did that a while ago, especially since I can have a strong aircooler for about $50 or so, after all, I have Antec 900 with excellent airflow.
I'd appreciate some input. I'm torn b/n the two. Watercooling has a certain attraction of geekiness to it if you know what I mean, but I think I'll be perfectly happy with an aircooler for financial reasons... although the weight and size of those monsters is a concern for I don't want to warp my new mobo... Thanks for reading!
