Hey guys, new member here. Looks like a great community and I'm looking forward to... foruming with you all.
In short, I have about half of a gaming setup at the moment. I have my desktop which I built myself about a year ago, but due to going to University I put it on hold and left it at home. Now I am planning to take it to my new flat and finally enjoying it's goodness.
What I have (the main bits):
i5 750
HD4870
4GB DDR3 RAM
Antec 900 Case
The desktop is fully functioning but now I want the rest and extravagant bits. However, for a lot of the stuff I have only done a little research, following reviews and forum posts to little them down but they are still subject to change. I was hoping for any feedback on my choices to see if I missed an essential upgrade for around the same cost.
Cost isn't a huge issue btw, but nothing OTT. Mid-range prices for most.
My upgrade 'wants':
Monitor: Dell U2311h - £200
Speakers: Logitech Z 323 - £30
Headphones: AD700 - £80
Sound Card: Xonar Essence STX - £120
Mic: Zalman Clip-on Mic - £10
Joystick: Cyborg X - £40
Keyboard: Alienware TactX - £70
Mouse Mat: £12
TrackIR 5 - £140
Total: Quite a bit.
I'm not sure on the keyboard tbh. Might just go for a £30 Logitech one. Speakers wise, University flat shared with others, headphones are my option but need some speakers.
In the future I will be upgrading to a Southern Island/Kepler card and going for Eyefinity/Surround with 2 more of the same monitor. Gaming bliss.
