After reading through gimpy04's thread focusing on cpu progression, i realized i couldn't remember all the chips I had run on. Instead only the cream of the crop came to mind. No doubt we have all delt with cpus that have underperfomed, but when you are in the possesion of a cpu from a particularly batch lasting memories are made.

Here's mine:

Intel Pentium 4 660 @ 3.6
Intel core 2 Q6600 GO @ 3.5
Intel core 2 Q9450 SLAWR @ 3.8
Intel i7 920 DO @ 4.0

(can't remember the weeks:confused:, these were the top 4 of around 25 cpus. I judged based on stabilty and percent over stock frequency.)
:D

Opteron 144 ( one of the best batches, out-clocked my FX-55 both 1mb cache so basically the same chip ): http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g252/azn_plyr/3-1.jpg I loved this thing, until I realized dual-core was the new flavor.

E7200 ( My first 4ghz chip, could not afford E8400 for the extra cache yet ): http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g252/azn_plyr/untitled.jpg

E8400 ( Impulse buy, but ended up being a monster overclocker ): http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g252/azn_plyr/10hours43ghzstable.jpg

Q9550 ( Sold E8400 for this, paid very little at Fry's combo deal, was going to keep this until it gets outdated and slow, but caught the upgraditis ): http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g252/azn_plyr/4ghzQuadstable.jpg

athlon 64 6400+(3.2ghz) to 3.5ghz
phenom II x4 940(3.0ghz) to 3.6ghz(limited by this crappy motherboard)

those were my best of the best overclocking processors.. have had tons of others between those but the majority of them have been duds..
one day i want to try and break the WR overclock on my athlon 64 3200+.. but cant seem to find a water cooling setup that will allow me to reach it..

Celeron 300a @ 450MHz :D memories....

XP2100+ @ 2GHz for a long time. Not sure if that was kick ass or not, but I wanted 2Ghz at the time.
E7200 @ 3.6
E8400 @ 3.8
Q9550 @ 3.8

Those are my most notable. I do not even have my i7 overclock right now. Too busy with other crap.

Dual processor Celeron 300A at 466.

I had that running for years this way and I actually still have the chips..

This was my first dual core overclock.

Lets see, I believe it began with my Palomino Athlon XP 2000+ overclocked from 1.667ghz to 1.80ghz. As I learned more and more about how to overclock I deduced that my motherboard was holding me back. Got a new one and hit 1.90ghz. Then of course I needed better cooling... Yea that was the start of it.
I loved the idea of getting more than I paid for just by tweaking some settings. I felt like I was sticking it to the man. :-P
Anyway, I then went on to a Thoroughbred Athlon XP 2100+ which I overclocked from 1.733ghz to 2.1ghz. I cooled it with an SLK-800. After that was a Barton 2500+ Mobile which I took from 1.867ghz all the way to 2.43ghz. What a great feeling.
Then I did similar overclocks for an athlon 64.
Then I got an E2160 a while ago which I am still using... How pathetic. My gaming system is worse than the average person's media center. Ever since coming back here I have been feeling like such a chump. Anyone got an old E5/6xxx processor they wanna sell cheap? :-/

Athlon XP-M 2600+ Barton core that I took to 2.5ghz, I remember it smoking any retail processor in benchmarks

Opty 165 to 2.7ghz - A freaking 900mhz OC! OMFG! Haha, this thing was a beast and used more power than modern quadcores but I loved it. I think this was the most fun I've had OC'ing as it was so stable and predictable on the DFI NF4 (the Athlon was a finicky sob and the later intels were almost too easy)

Q6600 @ 3.6ghz - My first 50% oc. The fact that I was able to get 4800mhz combined extra computational power from an overclock was absolutely mind boggling to me.

Q9550 @4.25ghz @1.25 volts - Still dialing it in, but its a gem...

Most Hillarious OC...
Phenom 9500 from 2.2ghz to 2.42 ghz undervolted to 1.225v. This is like class leading for these chips right?? Ha, its hillarious because the chip will do 2.42 ghz below stock volts but won't do 2.5 stable even at 1.55v, and I know its not other components limiting it. I've never seen such a verticle wall to overclocking in a chip, and the fact its core speed is slower than the xp-m that was made 7 years prior is just classic. Oh well, got the chip for $40 in the fs/ft forum and it makes a great office pc.

I used to run all laptops, so, it was mostly under clocks.

T5600 1.83 GHz -> 1.66 (to match t5400).
PC2700 (Athlon 64 mobile!) 1.6GHz (iirc) -> 1.2GHz (iirc)
some others not worth mentioning...

Desktop (server, funny thing), I did a slight OC of a 800Mhz Coppermine to 900Mhz.

No one else with the 1700+ DLT3C? Surprising. I still have mine in the closet. I believe I got it up to 2.55 or 2.6 something, had to learn how to pin mod for that CPU. I always got a kick out of looking through benchmark comparo's and seeing how much more awsome my 1700+ was then the bleeding edge tech of the time.

it brought back a ton of memories from when i was younger

386sx used to have a turbo button from 16-33mhz

pentium 166 that went to 200mhz (i think it was in old packard bell platinum 60)

slot pentium 233mhz that could run 266 or maybe even 300mhz

slot pentium 3 450 that i got to run 533 mhz

celeron socket 370 533 that ran like 800mhz

same motherboard with a pentium 3 733 that i ran at like 900 mhz

athlon tbird that i picked up with some asus mobo that went to 1.2 ghz (dont remember original speed)

Athlon xp 1800+ that ran close to 1.8ghz on a shuttle ak32

athlon xp 2500 barton that ran 2.2ghz all day long and still runs til this day

athlon 64 socket 754 that clocked around 2.4 ghz on an abit mobo cant remember what one though

socket 939 athlon x2 3800 that overclocked to like 2.5 ghz- I was really wowed by that one, but also hated how multithreaded programs were almost non existant

socket 939 opteron 165 at 2.7ghz i remember how i got one of the golden steppings and had so much fun with that processor

c2d e6600 that broke 3.2 ghz bought it on launch day and havent owned an amd processor since, though i did build the gf a 630 propus amd and was thrilled by its performance

c2 q6600- again got a golden stepping and was at 3.4-3.6 ghz depending on heat in my dorm room

i7 920- D0 stepping never overvolted and runs 3.8ghz under an antec spinq and has been absolutely amazed by its performance

and now i have an i7-940 sitting in a retail box staring at me asking me to put it at 4ghz and not worrying about a processor for the next 3 years lol, somehow i feel it wont last that long though.

It's a weak overclock by later 3800+/Opt165 standards but I think my all time favorite cpu, and most expensive was a:

X2 4400+ 2.2GHz @ 2.6GHz

It was the true game changer and my first "multi-processor" system so to speak. X2s won every single benchmark, it was total domination.

486sx-25 @ 33 - my first ever overclock.. and it wasn't even my machine.. saw a jumper on a freinds motherboard and had to try it.

486dx2-66 @ 80

5x86-133 @ 160

Multiple K6 and K6-2 CPUs.. the best being a K6-2 550 at 660 on an ASUS P5A.

Multiple Slot-A Athlons... best back in the day was overclocked to 1.13Ghz

Multiple Socket-A Athlons and Athlon XPs... best around 2.2Ghz or so.

Athlon 64 3700+ at 2.7 or 2.8Ghz.. can't remember.

Opteron 170 at 2.7Ghz - worst batch ever.

Q6600 @ 3.84Ghz

i7-920 @ 4.2Ghz

My favorite is my first. I lost my overclock virginity to the legendary harlot of CPUs, the Celeron 300A. 100 Mhz FSB bumped up to 133 resulted in a blistering 450 Mhz. I even went out of my way to make sure to FPO Batch number matched the Costa Rican factory CPUs.

My next overclock was a Pentium 3. It was an 800 or 900 Mhz OCed to over a gig. I was the first one in my LAN gaming group to shatter the gigahertz barrier. Good times.

Edit: Wow, looking over the other posts it seems like the poor 300A got whored out to pieces. Hah.
