It's been a long since i post here, and i need serious advice on a new build.

Once upon a time i was a happy owner of a P5W DH deluxe, a board with mediocre overcloking potential but rock solid stable and full of home PC features.

I changed to a big system : top of the chart C2D, 8GB premium DDR2, 4 HDDs, a water cooled 4870x2 and, oh god , why? a P5Q Deluxe, the most extreme change from the tranquil waters of the P5W DH deluxe.

The P5Q:

has a RAID controller with 2 ports that did not let me install an OS on a RAID 0 array. after 2 years with the same OS on the P5wDH without ever having any problem with faulty HDDs i am reinstalling OS one after another on the P5Q.

Is absolutely unstable with 4x2GB sticks, and suffers from sudden death sindrome: a given memory config is stable enough for 99% of OS operations but will cause a bad BIOS flashing every BIOS upgrade, something that i could not avoid , since every BIOS release gave me a sledge of hope of finally solving the memory problems. Needlles to say that a BIOS flash means 99% of the time a physical BIOS chip swap, since no amount of RTC reset would work. And as the mobo aged it need more and more juice to run the 8GB, so any day i would sleep with a working Pc and wake up with a dead 40 pounds steel box ( Titan Robelia water case,a heavy piece of nightmare that no amount of grounding prevented me from receiving chocks).

So i am set for a new build, and want:

Redundancy, stability and easy BIOS reset / chip swap :
It MUST allow easy instalation of an OS on a RAID 0 ( sorry RAID 5 fans)
It has to proved and tested for 8GB+ configurations, ideally without much BIOS hassle.
Must have enough juice to support a CPU balanced with the 4870x2.
USB 3.0 AND SATA 6gb/s, i want us much backup comodities as possible. And fast acess to my terabytes of porn.

I do not need:
massive CPU power: no video editing
tri and quad GPUs, i liked so much the 4870x2 that i wont use multi GPUs setups if possible, even if it means to buy a 5970.

So i believe that anything with 3 or more cores will do the trick
So i kindly ask:

Who is more stable at 8GB+? AMD or Intel?

on the Intel side: who is more stable at 8GB+: core i5 or core i7?

What is the easier way to mount an OS on a RAID 0? The P5W DH way of a dedicated chip or the RAID manager of Intel/AMD?

I am deeply in love of the 890g chipset: the good IGP can make me save idle power from the GPU and supports the 6-core phenom. Is my love misdirected? What the 890FX has to offer in exchange for this?

And on the Intel side?
