Far Cry 2 benchmarks

I havent noticed that much in the game but it was there. in the benchmarks its at the same exact spots every time so that may help track down the cause. Im so disappointed in my comps overall performance in FC2 right now that I dont even want to play.

Man, this news sucks. What the efff man...I was really looking forward to playing FC2 with my 4870x2...

you might not even notice it and doesnt really affect the game. maybe some other 4870x2 users can let you know how its going for them. also since this seems to be a well known ATI issue Im sure it will be addressed soon.

Anyone know of any core2duo previews of farcry2 ?

I couldnt find the specs of Kyle or Brent's systems in the preview, and all other previews I see are with quads.

Kind of moot, since I will be able answer my own questions about 1A.M. Saturday morning, but just curious.

I know this is off topic, but I have been experiencing total freezing of my computer when I attempt to join some multiplayer servers. It does not happen every time I try to connect. Just about 50-60% of the time. It will show the loading screen and the loop will continue to spin but it will stay on the loading screen indefinately until I restart my computer. This is very annoying because I have been having a blast in mp but this kills it! Anyone else experiencing problems like this?

Is it stuttering in the game, or just the benchmark - because it seems like a known issue that the benchmark stutters while the game doesn't.

I haven't even run any of the benchmarks, so for me it's in the game. I know some people say you bearly notice it, but it was the very first thing I noticed and IMO, it's annoying as heck. I don't even know if I'd call it a studder, more like a jitter. The FPS does not drop to 0 or anything like that, so it's not something that's likely to get you killed in a firefight, but annoying none the less. I hope there is a fix soon.

I installed the 8.10 hotfix and it was fine... unitl I switched over to DX10. It was hitching when I walked forward, but not when I would look around. I used the console command showfps 1 and i was averaging 45-75 fps with a lot of details cranked up. I switched back to DX9 and the hitching disappeared.

Verified! I was just playing for about 15 mintues in DX9 mode and the jittering/twiching was gone. Looks like I'll be playing in DX9 until either drivers or a patch fix the DX10 issues.

DX10 solution (at the moment)

shouldn't make it worse, not the jittering anyway. If one of the fixes is setting max fps at 30, vsync shouldn't make it worse as vsync won't cause the fps to dip below 30. Not saying that it wouldn't dip below 30, but if it does, it's not becuase of vsyc. And since msot of us are not getting 60+fps, vsync would essentially be doing the same thing and that's capping the fps at 30

I only have this slight issue, not sure if somebody mentioned it here, it doesn't affect my performance or anything, occasionally the whole screen goes blurry for a second and it returns to normal. Not sure if its the driver, or the game itself. Any ideas?

I believe that's an effect of the game that happens when you're sprinting.

I tried the same settings as you and got this:

your numbers look fine for your setup

How much faster would a GTX 260 be over a 9800GTX+

Ill post mine when I get home from work, but Ill say that my 6400+ BE is really holding up well.

I know i had everything maxed out at 1920X1200 2xAA and 16X af...and it was SOOO freakin smooth.

I have mine running with all maximum settings, 1920 x 1200, no AA.
Edge detect on, adaptive AA on.

maximum 78 FPS
Average 55 FPS
minimum 29 FPS

runs very smooth. No lag or stutter noted. Vista x64SP1

This was a FRAPS run for three minutes during a fight at a guard outpost on the way to the Fort. Included driving, turrets,running in high grass and fires.

This is at 1920x1200 with everything maxed out with no AA.

* Average Framerate: 47.27
* Max. Framerate: 60.74
* Min. Framerate: 38.92

Pretty freaking good for just a 4870. Oh and vsync was applied.

UPDATE! With everything maxed out and 2x edge detect AA

* Average Framerate: 38.47
* Max. Framerate: 51.77 (Frame:118, 2.50s)
* Min. Framerate: 27.57 (Frame:1562, 41.67s)

What are your system specs? I recently moved to the latest nvidia betas, so I'll have to rebench...and maybe (just maybe) closing all my background apps out (you know, those 3 instances of VS2008 and Outlook :p) might help me a little bit. Hehe.

X3350, 260GTX ,4Gb ram, IP-35 Pro
I ran that on the 180 beta drivers
CPU is at 3.4, Video card is overclocked way up too..:)

So wait...my score is low then? The only real leg up you have on my is the OCed CPU. My Q6600 is currently at 2.7 GHz, I'll bump to 3 again tonight and retest as well.

You will probably see big gains when you get the CPU clocked up.
Is your 280 running stock clocks?

Still cant believe how this 6400BE is really keeping up...

Those numbers look really good especially with a 6400BE. What kind of AA are you using? I'm using edge detect and my scores are lower than yours. Same reslution too.
