I just wanna show you my fanless HTPC setup. Not a top notch but a good alternative to G33/G35.

Biostar TF7100P-M7/E3110 @ 3.6Ghz with Scythe Ninja Copper(fanless)
1x250GB Seagate SataII / 1x250GB WD SataII
2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC8500
901 case (modded top panel, removed HDD support)
Corsair 520w

around 40c idle and 55c loaded....btw - i was just messing with ya when i said mine was "better".....good setup you have (love the ninja copper - drool!), you should try to undervolt it and see what you can overclock to. On my old E3110 (E8400 equivalent), I ran 3.0GHz @ 1.08V no probs with some sweet temps around 45C loaded! Above 3.0GHz gives you diminishing returns on power / heat....
 
EIST is enabled in my setup so there will be no problem in volts and temps ^_6

I can play COD4 at 800x600 mid settings in decent frame rate btw ^_^
 
It's definitely somewhere between the two, I mean, all CPU fans have some amount of distance between them and the heat sink and regardless of weather they are blowing on the sink or pulling air through it the fan is still responsible for moving that air in both of those systems, not convection or conduction which would be the main forces in a fanless system.

If you placed a duct between the case fan and the heat sink would you still call that fanless?

Really, its a stupid point to argue over and it's all symantics drawing away from the point of the thread which is that it's a nice lookin system. That sink almost seems overkill for an HTPC, is the modded top a window because it seems almost shameful to hide such a pretty piece of metal.

Is this a dedicated HTPC, it seems like that high of an OC is almost unnecessary for HTPC functions and you could do without the extra heat and energy usage.
 
hehe well HTPC for me is not just a plain box.

it has a lot purpose, a 24x7 torrent, voip, ftp, encode/decode video/audio, mild gaming, music etc...

I just want a bling thats why I placed a 120mm TT fan there which is really super silent..

I can remove it anytime of the day with minimal effect in temperature.

Do you have a pic of it all closed up?

Oh and one more thing on the fanless issue, regardless of how much heat the heat sink on your processor can dissipate, if you can't move that hot air outside of the case, it's gonna turn into an oven quite literally. Is it always run with the top and sides open? When you do close it up, keep an eye out on temps, especially if you decide for some reason to remove your case exhaust fan, maintaining a good flow of cool air in and hot air out is critical.
 
jcmarfilph: isn't that 40mm fan on your northbridge loud? you might have room there to put another hsf on the northbridge

its closed 24x7,just opened the case for a better picture... that OCCT temp above is a closed case result...

and EIST is enabled so multi and vcore will drop on idle mode and rise on full load...

fyi - EIST only shuts off the clocks to the cpu core. It does not change the vcore itself....changing overall Vcore will have a much more immense impact on temps...
 
EIST or Speedstep whatever...

is like Cool-N-Quiet of AMD which reduces FID and VID to save power while in idle mode.

Whats the size of the Ninja in comparison to a Infinity/Mugen? Thinking of putting an Infinity into the Microfly build Im planning.
