any ideas what I can do to fix this? cant seem to get passed it on the gpu or smp clients wont allow me to do any work

windows 7 x64 ultimate
run as admin and allowed both through windows firewall

also ran the new easy folding at home gpu tracker and cannot fetch anything from the servers

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try disabling Windows Firewall completely and see if you can then download the cores.

Okay tried that and I still get the same error code.

Could it be something router based that would block it?

Are you running Windows Defender or MS security essentials, or another antivirus/security product that could be stopping it?

And when you say "run as admin" do you mean you were logged in as Administrator, or you right-clicked the executable and did "run as administrator"?

If you did that, try right-clicking the Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe file and changing the compatibility mode tab to Window XP and run in administrator mode. See if that helps.

You shouldn't have to do it, but try it anyway.

No on both windows defender and MS security essentials. I disabled all antivirus and malware and spyware programs and I still receive the same errors. I also ran in compatibility mode and that also didnt help.
This is frustrating I have some decent hardware to fold with but cant get by this problem.

Thanks,

doubt it otherwise you would be able to browse the web since it uses port 80 and port 8080 which are forwarded by default on almost every router.. but you could try putting your computer's ip in the DMZ settings on your router and see if it works.. but theres something blocking it..

Did you change any of the settings in the config when it ran such as use internet explorer settings/proxy settings?

no I left everything as is except the team number and my name. Its weird I cant do anything is there a manual way to download work units and such and then manually upload them when I am done?

If you know how to do this, try going into your router settings and putting your PC into the DMZ. That will open up all ports to your computer, so if port blocking is the issue it will allow you to download work. If that is indeed the problem, then we can work on figuring out which ports need to be opened.

I dont want to give up but unfortunately I am out of ideas. Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

I'd double check the outbound security settings to see if there are any rules in there. It looks like it should have a default one in there for allow always for any service. If there are extra in the outbound section, temporarily disable them to see if that fixes the issue.

Couldnt find a setting for my routers DMZ.

This is my router if that helps.

do you have the firewall enabled on that router? usually by default its enabled though it still shouldnt be blocking the client since it uses the standard HTTP port but its possible.. the DMZ option should be in the security settings in the router though..
