Completely stopped working.

Woke up one dayto go to work checked my progress and it was dead.

I restarted it left for work came home and it was still dead.

I tired to restart it and get it working for 2 days with no luck.

Any one else experience this?

Check the FAHlog.txt in the folder where you have Folding installed and see if there are any instances where the client had some sort of abnormal shutdown or other problem.

If there is anything in there that looks like it's wrong or you don't understand, then post that part of the log here so we can take a look at it.

I wish I could. But I click on it and it won't even open or load.

I'm really stumped on this.

There should be no problem opening the text file that has the log in it. Look for FAHlog.txt and open it. That will have everything the client has done since the last shutdown or something like that.

You may also try to install the client in another directory and run the new one instead to see if the problem persists. If not, more than likely the installation got messed up somehow with the original client.

Totally uninstall it along with deleting the folder at the root and the application you downloaded. Then, download a fresh new install and go from there. Try to run it completely clean, as in no switches or tags.

How sure are you that your Overclock is stable and not wigging things out ? Just something to think about.

What version of F@H are you using?
I think I was having issues with FAH4 and some of the new proteins crashing my main rig. My evidence is circumstantial at best, but my output was down, I was getting WU turned in worth 0, 1, or 2 points multiple times, my main rig would completely reboot without warning randomly (verified that it was virus free). This was all before I came home for Thanksgiving Break. Just as a guess, I did not have FAH started when I left for home, and I checked today and the box is still up.

Not necessarily related since you were just talking about FAH stopping, but it seems that something might perhaps be up.

I had issues with F@H crashing after it finished a WU.. So Temporarly i'm doing Seti till I get time to get a working version of F@H

Might be an issue with my A64 donno..

The rig that I run it on is not overclocked at all. Its an HP Pavillion and I've never been able to find a way to OC it.

I'll try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

And yes, I'm using F@H4.

If you are using the console version, use version 5.02. If you are using the graphical version, use 5.03. I have had no trouble with the 5.02 console except for when I got some of the newer proteins that were still considered unstable. Every once in a while I got one and some of them would terminate early. It was said by Stanford that they might and it was no big deal. I haven't had a problem since I stopped getting them though.

Then again, I never had any trouble with version 4 either unless it had something to do with my overclock.

check task manager for cores

my friend closed fah console to show someone 3d mark then opened up fah again and it loaded a new core with rather spectacular results

Oddly enough task managetr is showing that F2H is running but I can not for the life of me open it up.

Moose777,

Go to Administration and it should be showing as a service. I'm assuming that you were running the console version.

Its not showing anything now. I dunno what the hell is up with it. I'm just going to delete it fromt eh HD and start over.

Rather OT, but what are the stats on that Pavilion?

XP Media Edition 2002 Service Pack 2

P4 2.53 GHz 768 MB ram.

With an Asus MB (Not sure which one its an OEM) and an Asus Nvidia Geforce MX400 video card (a POS vid card IMO, but then again, this entire PC is a pos IMO.)

Natch. I ask because there is an underground of people trying to milk what they can from these low end systems. For example some older Pavilions used the Trigem Cognac motherboard, which was a socket 370 with max 256 MB of RAM, top CPU of 766 MHz. Subsequent BIOS updates have allowed folks to put in 1.1 MHz PIII and 512 MB.

It was a pretty good computer the week I bought it, then after the first week it began crashing like crazy. After about 4 months I could no longer play games on it. Which is why I use it strictly for writing my books browsing the 'net and for a time till it refused to do it Folding.

The new machine (AMD) I built is only for gaming and the occasional music CD it doesn't have anything on it whatso ever except for games. Its never online.
