so if i set the mem usage to 2048 on all 4 instances, what will happen?

My guess would be bad things. I don't run multiples on any of my boxen, but I would imagine that you'd only want the total of all instances to equate your total amount of memory. Just a guess though, and even that could possibly cause problems as it could still saturate the memory bus.

Well, as it sits now, I run 4 instances on the dual Xeon and all 4 have pulled down QMD's from the start. Each Instance takes about 300mb of RAM. Should i just not update the client at all?

:eek:

Well, I am assuming you're running HT then. The majority of the discussion has been how much memory bandwidth the QMD's take up. I'm not sure if anyone is running 2 QMD's at once let alone 4. The few people that have talked about running 2 QMD's have normally stated that its almost impossible to use the box with the amounts of memory being used. You'll have to let us know if you're box is struggling.

But to pull down 4 QMD's like you currently have, giving everything you have to each client would be the way to go.

Honestly, I think the box runs fine. I only play Runescape (i know, i know) and do web browsing on it. I haven't done any memory intensive tasks while running the 4 QMDs, so i wouldn't honestly know. But 1.2gig of memory taken up by FAH :eek:

Simply put, the precursor to the reach through!

How does that work as opposed to the "reach around"?

<mental image of highly problematic sexual contortionists at work>
<scratches head>
