I don't ever finish a game. I have played a ton over the years and it's pretty rare for me to actually complete a game. But I just finished FEAR and loved every minute of it.

I just finished FEAR today, and I loved it too, but I am completely lost, I didn't understand the whole end of it. Or what the hell I was doing other than shooting scary things, and not so scary things and really fast scary things. Can someone explain the story a little more to me?

Ok. So Alma, the little girl, is your mother. She had you normally, and then you were taken away from her by Harlan Wade who wanted you to develop differently. Paxton Fettle was a genetically engineered human, based on Alma's DNA, so the two of you (and her) are connected via that, letting you see some of what is going on. I ~believe~ alma is Harlan or Alices (or both) daughter, but I'm not positive on that connection. Alma was supposedly dead, but wasn't. Confusing, eh?

Well I enjoyed it alot. And dont worry for those that have hated every new FPS for the last year because you soon wont have none unless you get a console or wait for a port. ;)

What the fuck isn't repetetive? Even every game copies another is some way or another. The missions throughout the game can be pretty similary but it's nothing huge, that's just the setting. The game is still fun and hte atmosphere is really good. From the sounds of your post, the lack of detail or any real reason, you were setting your self up for dissapointment. "Why don't I try this lame game and see if it's really good or just LAME". The story is actully really good compared to a lot other games recently out.

if you didnt shoot your mother , then she would kill you ...now just why she is trying to hurt you ..I do not know . Maybe that will get some more light shed on it in F.E.A.R. 2. ...and Harlan Wade is your Grandfather ..that blond chick that you try and help would be in effect your aunt I guess as Alma is her sister ..Fettle being your suedo brother of sorts mentioning how "She"(Alma) is afraid of you ..(maybe thats why she wants to kill you)

But in F.E.A.R. ..you really have to listen to everybody, and the answering machines and all that to get all the pieces of the story ..if you just run and gun and blaze your way to the end , you will be left with a "What the frick'n frack was that all about ..." blank stare on your face.

also , just hangen around and listening to some of the extended dialogue that takes place can get humourous at times

I think i checked all of them. Not 100% sure on that tho. My sound card went on the fritz for a bit during a couple gaming sessions, so i couldnt hear all the dialog, even gunshots were very, very muted.
