I'm looking to replace my 2 480's to 6990+6970 gameing at 5760x1200 and was wonderng what all i need for eyefinity?got 3 dell u2410 i been using so i have a display port ready but can i just use the other two mointors with dvi.

Yeah, you should be able to just use the other monitors with dvi. Have fun.

I still drool over games in eyefinity. Some games have annoying instances but it's few and far between. A recent one for me was playing Batman AA the in game cut scenes were zoomed in.

I still wouldn't trade it for anything.

I would recommend all three U2410 through mDP to DP cables on the 6990. That would be the ideal 3x1 connection.

There are ini tweaks that fix this. Check widescreen gaming forum. What annoyed me about Batman AA was that objects would disappear because there's a limit on how much can be displayed at once.

Ever since I got my eyefinity setup in January the only game I played regularly that worked perfectly without a complaint is Assassins Creed: Brotherhood.

Can you crossfire cards of different architectures? ie. dual-GPU cards with single-gpu card?

Isn't the 6990 overkill for eyefinity? 6970 CF should be enough, no?

you can just run surround w/ your 2x480's

but if you switch, I would recommend going w/ 3x6970's vs 1x6990 + 6970, [H] just did a review where they found 3x6970's would scale better
