I've been so tempted to buy this http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/382087-382087-64283-72270-3884471-4194577.html
But, the benchmarks I've seen with 30 inch monitors on high settings with the current hardware isn't too impressive. Some benchmarks are around 70's FPS. The new 4GB 5970s benchmarks show good improvement with higher resolution. But I think the next gen video processors will be much better than what we have now. I assume 4GB of onboard memory and high memory bandwith will help in native 2560x1600. I'm just waiting for the time when 100 FPS and two video cards will be adequate.
Monitors is something I rarely upgrade myself. They last many computer upgrades. If you find a good price on a 30 inch monitor I would take it. But my phobia is once I get my 30 inch monitor, here comes 3D monitors!
Why not just buy a 27 inch monitor at 1920x1080 and save yourself the headache
question...
too all of you who say eyefinity sucks cause of bezels, haveyou guys every tried eyefinity?
i have no issue with the bezels. dont notice them when im gaming
think of it like this.
having one 30 is like only having a windshield in your car, no side windows. then someone comes around and invents side windows on a car and the majority of people out there think its awesome and a great improvment but there are still a few who refuse to buy a car with side windows because the car frame blocks the view between the windows and windshield. they say that they refuse to buy a car untill there is no frame between the windows and the windshield. in actuality though if those people tried driving in a car with side windows they would realize that the frame does not get in the way of your line of sight and is not an issue. the side windows are not your focus when you are driving but are there to check who is behind you, check for traffic when turning and merging and to be able to judge the speed of travel more accurately.

Why did we feel the need to bump a 2 year old thread?
I'll trade you my Dell 3008wfp for your 3 2709W's. I know you miss 2560x1600 goodness.I bought the 30" Apple Cinema Display, like 6 years ago, when it had it's first major price break down to $1999. LOVED that monitor, was insanely cool for the time. After a few years got spoiled, and bored with it, so I sold it, and went with 3 Dell 27" Monitors for Eyefinity. Man that was awesome at first, triple screen gaming across three 27" screens.
Now I have had that setup a couple of years, and comparing the two, I wish I had the single 30" Apple again. Eyefinity is much BS to deal with at times, games look stretched out and distorted on the side, and I mainly play MMO's or RPG's, and Eyefinity just makes everything looks extra wide, not good for RPG's, much better if your into Racing or Shooter games.
Like what? Doesn't a second monitor provide the same benefits? If I had to choose between a single 30" and 3x24"s, I'd go with the eyefinity setup. 30" is nice, but I like all the benefits multiple monitors brings.
Expanding your FOV so the game is more immersive, while not having a bezel in the middle of a screen.Like what? Doesn't a second monitor provide the same benefits?
