I bought an ergotron triple stand and 3 samsung 23s. Got my dell adapter today so i'll get my setup going tonight. Quick question for anyone running crossfired 5870s with eyefinity. I plan to pick up a 2nd 5870 if i can run a 4th monitor for web browsing.
Also, I'd suggest holding off on getting another 5870 if you're also wanting to run crossfire with Eyefinity. As I mentioned in a previous post, even with the 9.12 hotfix, only 2 games out of 14 I tested actually make use of the second card.
That is big news...which two games do work with Crossfire + Eyefinity ?
So for now sounds like your still better off with the 5970, it is cheaper anyways than 2 - 5870's...or wait for the new 5870-6 card that can run 6 displays, not that you would run that many, but the card will have 2gb memory on a single chip, so should be better for Eyefinity setups than a standard 5870 ? I think it will get official announcement at CES this week

I wanted a 5970, but they just don't exist. If i manage to find one i'll probably pick one up anyway and just sell the 5870. But ya, this is why i've held off on a 2nd 5870. Trying to get a little more info on crossfire. Guess i need to find a card at work to shove in for my websurfing display.
+1. Post of the thread.Actually, technically they give you exactly the same amount of game world to see. It's just in portrait more of your pixels are vertical. If you enjoy portrait more, then use it. Don't worry about how it compares to a single 30" because 1920x1200x3 is always more pixels than a 30" display. 2560x1600= 4m pixels 1920x1200x3= 6.9m pixels. The 24"x3 Eyefinity setup is providing 72.5% more pixels than the single 30" display. How you orient it is just a matter of preference. there's no 'right' way to do it except what feels best for the individual.

I definitely agree with what you said last, in the end it's up to you to decide what you like best. Still, I was under the impression that you do see "more" in landscape than in portrait in modern games because they render the viewing "window" according to fov and aspect ratio, not pixel count, so a 30" in 16x10 would have the same viewable space in game as a 24" in 16x10 at a lower resolution. Graphical fidelity would just be higher on the 30" at higher resolution.
Ya its an ergotron triple stand. They are the these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001317&cm_re=samsung-_-24-001-317-_-Product
I've never had a multi screen setup, but I have always wondered if the black bar that is made from the gap between the screens ever distract you from the game? It seem really weird having that black bar there.
what do you guys think?
i can see the appeal for portrait but most of my game are either fps or driving, so its landscape for me so far. ive only had my setup for 3 days now but.....crap its nice to have 3 screens.

as an add-on to this post, id like to know what kind of angles people are using with their eyefinity setups. as well as how close you sit to the main screen ( are the side screens actually in your peripheral vision or not really) im having a bit of a time trying to find a happy middleground. i play fps and driving games. seems very weird if i sit back too far. for the few fps games ive played so far the angle i have mine on seems odd. could be i just need to get used to them. im not over my nausea yet. seems everytime i take a larger step up in screen size it takes a while to get used to it, and one of the side affects is feeling nausea.....am i the only one? so let me know what your angles are please, and what u play with them at those angles.
The bezels in my setup isnt to bad if i put one my side monitors behind the middle so i can only see the bezel on my middle monitor. Oh and does dirt 2 in landscape feel kinda weird to other?
