I tried Bad Company 2 with Eyefinty on my three Dell 2209WA's using my new HD6970 and it made me nauseous as hell. I am feeling sick right now just thinking about it. It is definitely a no go for me. Anyone else experience the same thing?
 
3 2410 monitors from twin HD5770s in CF were fine for me :)


Did you tweak your FOV? I've never heard of anyone haivng nausea from this, unless if the FOV was set very low and they were sitting some 12 inches from the screens, lol. (both of which happen to me too often...)
 
My brother's girlfriend almost threw up watching a burnout paradise barrel roll from the cockpit with my 5 2408's in portrait. Maybe it was her viewing angle. I suspect it was the awesomeness.
 
I remember the 60hz CRT days.......yuck. Like a flickering fluorescent light bulb just gnawing at your eyeballs. RAWR!!

change the FOV, default is 55, it can be changed in the config file. theres also a calculator out there that shows exactly what to set the fov to for a specific resolution on BC2.
 
yes this was the same for me with FOV fix done, just too disorientating for me. Single monitor for now.

Like sirmonkey1985 said, definitely change your FOV. I have mine set to 23. There's a way to change your refresh rate from 60hz to 76hz. Let me know if you want the modified EDID file.
 
my worse game was black prophacy. a space game that got me sick as can be.. but i can play hawx and be fine .. kinda odd i guess
 
Eyefinity is not for everyone. I personally cannot stand the bezels getting in the way.

probably because there was nothing to look at. in hawx you can see the sky and the ground. flying in space you dont see shizat except black which can get some people motion sick..

the bezels are annoying in pictures and video's. in person i forgot the bezels were even there after about 10 minutes since you spend more time looking at the center display. its just like using a single monitor but having peripheral vision to the left and right.
 
3x Dell 2209WA for my 5770 was fine on L4D2, Dirt2 and GTA IV(all three adjusts your FOV for your screens)

had to tone down settings though :(

It's like wearing eye glasses. If you look for it you can see the frames from the edges of your eyes. If you look straight ahead you wont even notice the frames at all.

Same with Eyefinity. If you look for it you will notice the bezels and they might can be distracting, depends on the user. But if you look straight ahead you don't notice them at all.

This is, at least, how it is for me.
 
Did eyefinity last night for the first time. It made me nauseous before I adjusted the fov and few other details. I would see if you can tweak it to your liking before giving up.
 
My first attempt at eyefinity was BFBC2, with 3x24inch monitors too close to my face, i was also very tired, i just plugged in my crossfire 6950s, and wanted to test it out and shit... i wanted to puke.

With smooth framerate + good Fov, its perfect.
 
I guess I give it another try then after making some adjustments. Do you guys have your monitors in a straight line or do you have the end monitors on an angle towards you?
 
I have my outer monitors angled towards me. I haven't tried them straight across yet.
 
Only game that ever made me dizzy was Prey, too much upside down shit.

People always moan about bezels on forums and youtube especially. When I did my eyefinity build, people watched me play on it and said the bezels ruined it. Once they sit in the middle and start playing themselves, it all makes sense.

Of course, you might well have extensive experience, in which case it's just opinions all round!
 
I bet you were one of those people who complained about nausea when seeing Avatar in 3D. :D

I did, and I got rid of the three monitors I had in two weeks. I tried landscape and portrait. The bezels just didn't work for me. I replaced with a single 30". Much happier.

Never had any nausea with any game ever in any resolution though. Got seasick once though.

Yes it's much different once you are sitting in front of it looking at the center monitor, even just being in the room and looking at it isn't the same experience because you will be looking at them from a distance and not in the viewing location.


Maybe there are bezels there - but without the side monitors the bezels lead right into the wall, and the wall doesn't bug you does it? Why would having more game screen there bug you.
 
The game that made me a little nauseous is Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. It was the swaying back a forth when you moved around, it didn't make me feel that great. I appreciate the amount of detail or realism they did, but it's a game, not a simulator. Besides that, games don't usually make me nauseous unless they are terrible.

Headaches, sickness etc. is normal when first using Eyefinity. The brain is processing a lot more information, for some people it's too much.
When I had it, I felt fatigued after looking at three monitors for hours. I turned off the side monitors so I can surf the Internet comfortably.

The first Doom used to make me nauseous. The fast moving screen was too much.
 
Well you know people that are epileptic can have very negative reactions when looking at anything that is close to what a strobe light is, many video games out their often come with warning on this topic,its probably not related to the topic at hand but i just figured id add my 2 cents worth to the contribution pot.
 
If you were hardcore gamer like me you could play in a black box with the game being piped into your cortex directly while fending off the ravage of the flood and preventing convergence from the marker and not get sick.

But then again.....
 
I game on eyefinity and so far so good, however I saw a video that someone posted in a thread of bfbc2 because they were experiencing microstuttering in eyefinity and the video of eyefinity running in eyefinity made me nauseous. Lol :D
 
Yeh nausea is very strange.

I get nausea playing any fps on a 42inch plasma sat about 1.5m away, but racing and flying games are fine. Never felt anything like it before...you look around then BLAM holy crap have to go lie down for 5 minutes.
 
It's induced motion sickness.

I know of two people who, way back when, switched from little lcds to their first ~22" and had the same issues until they became accustomed to the view.

Yes. I have the same problem I have when trying to wear glasses. I keep trying to look "around" the frames (bezels) and it causes eye strain.

And no, after a certain amount of time, I don't tend to "focus them out".

Mostly it's just my personal preference. That and most of the games I use it for don't really gain anything (a couple of them actually lose functionality by going to eyefinity).

Dude. I cured myself of 3D "vertigo", way the hell back wen, by forcing myself to play Descent for 3 hours a day for a week. Basically play for half an hour, go puke my brains out, play some more, puke everything else out, and keep playing while feeling nauseous but having nothing else to come up.

After that, I was able to handle FPS games without the urge to insta-hurl all over my nice monitors.
 
Just one of those things. I had a bash with 3d Vision Surround and I literally got ice cream eye. Was pretty disappointed because it was incredible. Had to settle for the one screen, not like i'm complaining mind.
 
@chas- ah, fair enough then. But then again, if you have the same problem with glasses you have to admit you're in a minority there :cool:

Agreed. And I never said this was anything more than my unvarnished opinion (not that I've ever really been in the market for opinion varnish).

Just glad my vision is perfect (about the only one in my family), especially since contacts drive me wild.
 
if your frame rates are too low... bc2 is a harsh game for 3monitor res..

back it down to medium... low frame rates give you surround vision jerkyness and can cause nausea ...

I run 3x 23s I can run full res but only on medium even with my 5970...
