Extra SATA Connectors

I just purchased two more hard drives for my ststem but I forgot to check to see if I had enough available sata power connectors. Is there any way to buy extra connectors for my PSU? I have a Corsair HX520 so it is modular.

just buy a molex to SATA adapter. Usually those adapters provide two more SATA connections.

All sata HDD I have come across has the option of sata power connector and molex. Just plug the molex directly into the HDD.

Only specific brands include both, I know only one of my SATA HDD has both a molex and sata power connector.

I have a Seagate and a Western Digital, just to lazy to check which has which

Both have both.:)

Not true. The last 2 SATA Maxtors I've seen were SATA power only, and the last 3 Seagates I've seen were SATA power only. I avoid WD like the plague, due to my wide selection of WD drives dead within 2 years of purchase, so I can't say either way with them.

SATA+molex options, AFAICR were put there for compatibility reasons.. Less SATA connections were available on older units vs now. IE: my 2+ year old XClio 480BL only has 2 (1 which I killed right away :(), whereas my spankin' new 750TX has 8. Hence no need for molex on drives any more.

Back to the OP, I've got an idea, let's see if it works. I take it you have all 4 SATAs on the 520HX used? Any of the cable connections NOT being used on the modular interface, ie: the ones that accept molex and/or SATA cabling? ((Should be [going by pics] 5 assorted, other 2 above are motherboard and/or PCIe lines?)) If one's unused maybe you could grab one from a forum member, or maybe PM Redbeard and see if Corsair can hook you up. They did when everyone was flipping out over possibly being required to use 8 pin PCIe lines, and Corsair stepped up and provided them to people that asked. My memory may be a bit hazy on the actual what's & why's, but was something along those lines.

Otherwise your only other option of course is molex -> SATA adapters, which of course would ruin the flat black cable look, and make for a bit more tidying up.

Well, I didn't expect Redbeard to show really, but there you have it .

I'm glad I got my 750TX - my first Corsair purchase since my $150 512MB stick of XMS3500 in ~'01. And even before I've put it in place of my current XClio, I'm more than content in knowing there's this level of C/S backing it up.
