Extra computer, what to do with it?

So I just finished building a new computer for myself. I formatted the old one, reinstalled Windows XP and gave that to my fiance. Now I have her old computer and I'm trying to think of something to do with it. Its running a Tbird 1.4 with 512megs of RAM and a 9700Pro. I have a 160gig hard drive in it and an SB Live 5.1.

Any suggestions on what I can do with it? I'd like to come up with something useful.

For a home server it would work. If you want to store media on it just dump more HDDs in it. You could use it to learn Linux or just play around with it or whatever. Linux is great on older hardware. Also you could build a PVR out of it. Would work pretty well for recording SDTV and maybe HDTV if you just installed a capture card and myth tv.

Home server, linux box or a folding box.

Although I guess it can be used as a HTPC? if its quiet enough, it might be a decent HTPC.

fold, home server, porn....thats about all i can think of...or turn it into some nifty artwork...

You could setup a transparent squid proxy or something like that if you have a bunch of other computers, which might make more efficient use out of your network. Plus theres always folding in the meantime ;)

I'm wishing for a Linux box myself, so there's my vote. Also be a good file and print server.

That is still a decent box. Anyone in her or your family that is without? Or how about donating to a local school kid you might know that otherwise has to go to the library to use a comp to do their homework?

If it were my old box i would go office space on its ass and beat the shit out of it with a baseball bat. but thats only cuz my box and i dont get along.

Linux boxes are always interesting.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Unfortunately, I already have a home server. It stores files, runs dhcp and dns, and hosts a small website for me. I'm already folding on a bunch of machines, so I'd like to not add an extra one just for the sole purpose of doing so.

Anything else interesting I could do with it?
