3 years ago my seagate free agent pro 500gb started giving error messages saying the photos I was working with had been corrupted and data lost.
I put it on a shelf in its box and left it 3 years.
I have resurected it and when I get to the part of thr easeus data recovery software that shows the progress of building a "raw tree" it gets stuck somewhere in the first very beginning part and won't progress past maybe 5% then I had to shut it down twice in the middle of data recovery because I didn't have time for the thing to not show any progress in the first 4 or 5 hours,
boom,
i shut it down.
Tried to exit the program, but it was no use.
Shut it down by shutting the computer off on the start menu.
The easeus software I have works well on my othe drives I've been inspecting, and even found a bunch of junk I'm trying to eliminate from several other drives in the computer.
I'm thinking of a different approach and am so new to this, I'm not sure where to start.
I'd appreciate any thoughts or experiences any of you would share regarding my retriving these data that my easeus software can identify but which is unable to complete the routine which actually recovers the files.
Gets to the "building RAW tree" progress bar, shows about 5% progress, then just sits, 4.5 hours until I turned it off for the 3rd time interrupting the routine.
Dang that's dunb.
OK so if any of yall got anything I sure appreciate it
thank you

You need to remove the drive from the external case and connect it directly to the MB for a chance of recovery.

Thanks OH
are you really an OH?
If I attach the thing straight through to my Mb will I need additional wires to accomplish this?
I have sata 3 is about it

Sorry, I was thinking about individual drives and you have somekinda RAID0.

More than likely connecting your drives to the MB will not give you any chance of recovery.

Many times the external case's interface fails (not the drives) which can be remedied by removing the drive from the case and connecting them directly to the MB.

RAID0 is almost impossible to recover under the best of circumstances and is never recommended for storage.

Which model # freeagent pro do you have? As Old Hippie suggested I would rip it out of the USB adapter and plug it right to your motherboard for additional speed and stability. Most of the freeagent series are single drives, not RAID0 models though so we need to know your particular model number first. If your software is choking on the recovery, try something like GetDataBack http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm It is free to try and it will show you what it can get back prior to having to purchase it.

Sorry again!

I got my threads mixed-up along with bidding on another SSD thru Ebay.

You'll probably need a SATA cable to connect the drive.

Seagate FreeAgent Pro - 500GB, 7200 RPM, USB 2.0, eSATA
model # is st305004fpa1e3-rk
p/n is 9ng7a6-57
I don't know the first thing about taking it apart,
but hey,
it's been 3 years and those 5000 exposures have only occasionally crossed my mind...
