Extending drives?

Hi guys.

Im making a server with 12 discs of 2TB in RAID6. Later i want to add another 12 drives and merge them together to 1 drive in windows 2008R2. What is the best way? Extend volume in 2008 or another?

My RAID 6 is up and running but its running out of space fast and i would like to make it all 1 drive so i dont have to split it up on 2-3-4 partitions.

But im not sure if 2008 expanding drives will make me loose 100% if one array dies.

What RAID controller are you using? What did you use to set up the RAID array? The card itself or the OS itself?
