Not sure if it'll be called 680 or 780, but I'm talking about NVidia's next gen card to compete with AMD's new release.

A lot of rumors out there... I'm looking to get a new card, I can afford a 7970 but maaaay wait until next month to see if the rumor holds true of this nvidia card being released...

What would people guess the price would be? More expensive, or match the 7970 to compete?

It's a little crappy that it could turn out to only have 2 gigs of memory also.

Do you understand that the GK104 is equivalent to the GTX 560?
Nvidia's first card will be their mainstream part that is projected to be on par with the 7970.

A 2GB midrange card is great.

Price?

$400-450 sounds about right.

When?

Late March or Early April.

GK104 aka GTX660 (Ti): 350$
GK110 aka GTX670/680: 450 and 550$ respectively

If true, even better.

AMD is making it's money now. The 7950 will gouge 7970 sales soon and then Nvidia will force a price drop.
It's better to wait until Nvidia releases their card. Then buy AMD or Nvidia based on your needs at a lower price.

AMD is making shit.
If it wasn't for the Lano/Brazos, we'd be looking at Nvidia GPU monopol by the end of the year.

Charlie is calling Jensen an overpaid moron, yet they made $180 M last quarter.
AMD's graphics made $20 M. IN A 9 MONTH PERIOD!

They are charging $100-150 premium on 7970 and that's it.
Everyone is waiting for the rest of 7000 and Kepler.

I mean who the F gives up on Xmass sales by doing a SOFT LAUNCH??
Giving away their peanut sales in order to hurt Nvidia is about the only reason I can think of for having a soft pre-Christmass launch.

even when nvidia releases i don't expect the prices to drop nor do i see Nvidia's prices being remotely close to that. given Nvidia's history they will claim their 20% performance gain over the 7970 is worth another 100 bucks.

That statement meant the AMD is charging what they can now before they have to drop prices.
Of course the 7970 is overpriced compared to the previous generation. But the performance now gives them the reason to do that as of right now, later in the year that will not be the case.

I doubt the GK104 will be faster than the 7970 but close. It should top the 7950.
If the GK104 "is" 20% better than the 7970, that's nothing short of impressive. The GK110/100 will be the ultimate GPU.
