To be honest, I was almost an after thought.

My uncle & I were wiring the living room downstairs for surround sound and I had an extra 100 feet of wire left over.

When I got back to my apartment that night, i just happen to notice my speaker wires running around my desk and had the idea pop in my head & it worked out well.
 
I'm doing up the theater in the basement and my living room, not surehow I missed the office lol

Love the "hidden" look under the desks lol. Also the racks, WOW!!

Can't wait to get to building my server/reloading room in the basement, but Ive got to keep SWIMBO happy so that may be a ways off still :(

To be honest, my fiance was too keen on the idea of server racks at first.
I sat her down and showed her some photos of different folding farms.

This is the one that really won her over
( I forgot on which forum I found this, but it is really well done)
(It is a modified Ikea Cabinet the user found for under $100.00 from what i remember)

After that, she agreed that having them in a central location, and not all over the house was the better option.

I found my racks on Craiglist for $300 for both about 1 year ago.
I had to drive about 1 hour to pick them up but it was well worth it.

Once I got them in the house and she saw how it looked, she was very happy and supported the decision completely.
 
man if only i had the space to do something like that here.. its just plain more economical to have computers spread out all over my room.. damn small rooms.. bad enough having a bed, a huge desk to hold 3 monitors and a friggin book shelf that im not allowed to move out of my room..

oh well at least the book shelf is holding 4 open rigs.. they said i couldnt move it.. they never said i couldnt use it to hold a bunch of DC rigs.. :p
 
Just Curious, where do you live? Like, near a town or even just what state if you dont want people knowing, just curious
 
TN? your electicity must be cheaper then mine.

We have the wierd as anything electricity rates in CA. Anyhow, I shuf of the main breaker, and still managed to garner aobut 27usd of fees.

Oh, well. Guess that means I need to get a more efficient PSU.

We're on a annoying 3 tier setup.

Fee, then I have to pay exponentially (not really, but you get the point?) more per total amount used/month.
 
In Missouri I have $.0863 summer rate and in winter it's $.0612 for the first 750 kwH and then $.0412 after that. Pretty cheap.

Nice setup Evil. Thanks for sharing. I really dig the server room and the extra "storage room". i have a similar spot for all sorts of boxes, computer gear, etc under the stairs. :) Always comes in handy.

The "Office" was originally a bedroom in the house plans.
There is a full bathroom across the desk and it has a full walk in closet as well.
Needless to say I have many areas for storage of computer parts and accessories.

No more newspaper reading while in the bathroom .. i can look at FAHmon on the monitors now ....

I was wondering what's been up with you lately. You're production basically dropped off and I passed you up. Looks like you're getting ready to kick it up a notch or two again though.

My wife and I have been wanting to buy a new house and this thread is making me crazy ready to do it.
I love the way you have thought everything through and set it up extremely nice. Great example of how to do it the right way.

Not really sure, haven't taken a good look at my bill in a couple years but that price is off of this months bill. Of course, that's just the energy rate. I haven't totaled up all the various fees and delivery charges. We are on PSNH for electric and National Grid for natural gas.
 
Well, Some good news on the cable front ...

Charter Communications was out today and ran a steel cable to each of the poles.

They told my grandparents (neighbors) that they would be back tomorrow to run the actual cable lines.

So here is hoping I have internet by the weekend .....
 
Goto public library:
(Placer County has wifi. netbook has 9300gs) run client to download WU. Run WU. Submit via library process. Repeat steps until demonic CC truck comes back.

Don't ask why I did this. It was a weekend, and I had time.
