Is it me or is Evga's RMA process garbage? I been trying to RMA my 3080 since Sunday. I can't start a RMA cause it keeps asking me for a service ticket. I submit a ticket and they just giving me a run around with trying several things which I already tried before trying to RMA the card. I have yet to receive a service ticket number I can enter on the RMA form.

I've never had an issue, but I call them and I live in the US (I've heard EVGA EU is pretty damn meh at the best of times).

I know that they're not doing it now due to covid (hours reduction), but one time I called them at 1 AM to troubleshoot. I won't buy a different brand until they burn me.

Call them. usually i hold for a few minutes and then get a tech and tell him what i did and they create the RMA ticket for me. In fact last times i tried to submit my own RMA it said i had to call first.

I contacted them via email during Xmas time about unusual whining with my card (which turned out being an issue with the electricity in the room I moved my office in) and they replied the next day or the one after with an RMA ticket already opened and everything if I ever wanted to go that route.

Didn't go through with it as I said the problem was elsewhere but I was impressed how easy it all was.

EVGA's RMA process is great. If you start a regular return, you don't need a ticket number, but it does ask you questions and expects you to have done some basic troubleshooting.

It wouldn't let the RMA go through without the service number box filled in.

They must've changed it since last weekend because I was able to do a regular return (not the one where they cross-ship a replacement) without having a ticket number. It did OPEN a ticket for me after I entered my info, which they approved on Sunday. By Monday, I had the return address, etc.

I picked cross shipped but they still did a standard rma too I just notice. Good God shipping shit ups/fedex got so damn expensive. I called them and got them to send me a shipping label. So good in them for that.

I bought the advanced RMA option after hearing about the cards dying even though it appears to affect FTW3 cards and not so much XC3 cards. $40-50 to expedite the RMA process AND they provide you a return shipping label. I checked how much it would be to send my 3090 back shipped and insured through UPS Ground and it was $96!

Luckily you were able to get a return shipping label but I think that’s only because your card was still recently purchased.

Yea they said they were going to send me a label cause it was with in 30 days. So are there problems with the FTW3 cards. I heard some rumblings about it but didn't look much into it. Figures the card I buy from one of the better manufacturer is a dud of a sku. I might as well took it back to MC for a refund if I had to pay the $107 that UPS quoted me.

hearing things like this makes me nervous since I picked up a 3080 FTW3 Ultra card yesterday at Micro Center...I still haven't opened it yet and am debating returning it...the Asus TUF card is the one I really want...

Yea I feel yah. I had a choice between the ftw3 and a MSI at my MC. I forget which MSI but it was almost $100 more so I went the ftw3. I also wanted the tuf but I had to settle for whatever when given the opportunity to buy a 3080.

Micro Center gets pretty regular shipments of 3080 cards every week but I don't want to wait in front of the store for 5+ hours again...that was how I got the FTW3 3080 (I was first in line)

It cost me about $30 to send my card in and I'm willing to wait because it's for my son's rig and we have a backup.

Hard to say how widespread the issues are with the FTW3 cards. There are numerous threads about the issues (mostly red light of death) on Reddit and the EVGA forum but that in no way tells us how common it is. Some people have had no problems with their cards for months since launch while others are on their first or second replacement.

I’ve seen an EVGA Tech/Rep only comment on it once saying that the forum makes it seem like it’s more common than it actually is as you won’t hear from the vast majority of people whose cards are fine. Which is true. But then again, that could just be them downplaying the situation because they know we don’t have actual failure rates. In the end, we don’t know and probably won’t know the extent of these issues.

the FTW3 Ultra cards draw an insane amount of power so that might have something to do with the issues...then again maybe people are not using the correct PSU wattage or cheapo brands

I am using a Seasonic focus gold focus. The power draw didn't look out of wack to me when I was doing stress test on it.

I have used EVGA RMA 5 times since first purchasing from them in the mid 2000's. Two 460's, Two 970's, and a Z68 FTW motherboard. Never an issue. They offered to pay shipping for one or two of those... you just need to press them. If it's a blatant issue and within 30 days, they usually pay and send NIB, otherwise you get a refurb.

I have several EVGA cards and luckily I *knocks on wood* haven't had to RMA any of them. Good to know from this thread that calling them is the way to go. Thanks for the advice, ladies and gents.

Well, to be fair, they do need a few days to test the card. Plus, with all the dead 3080 and 3090 they have had, the RMA department is probably a bit overwhelmed.

My friend had a FTW3 3090 ultra and it died on a Seasonic GX-850 while launching the game GTA 5 I think.

Did you do an advanced RMA or just standard? I’ve never seen them take this long even with standard timelines. Wonder if the bad Q1 shortage is even limiting their RMA stock.

I selected advanced but they switched me too standard. Maybe cause they didn't have stock at the time to do advance? Tomorrow would of been 1 week since they got it.

No I didn't pay anything. I selected advanced and it never asked for payment and was standard the next day.

My 3090 FTW 3 Ultra died last week. I was playing Doom 3 (har har) from MS Xbox Game Pass and my screen went black. Power on the computer, no post. MSI motherboard showed code D2. I tried my wife's Radeon and it posted.

So, I spent $100+ for express shipping to EVGA and paid extra $50 for express shipping back to me. Once they got it, they shipped the next day.

It's brand new, not refurbished. It came in a bland cardboard box, but inside was the retail package. The sticker seal, accessories, plastic all over the card I had to peel, and a new smell.

Guess I got lucky because I bought this card in November and after thirty days, customers get refurbs.

I had to RMA my 3080 a few weeks ago. Card died on a Friday and I started the ticket right away.
Did a few email exchanges over the weekend and was approved for an Advanced RMA on Monday, Tuesday submitted payment for the Advance RMA, they sent out the replacement on Thursday and I got it the following Tuesday.
I was expecting it to take weeks due to the card shortage, so 10 days was very acceptable.

Card arrived in a retail box and looked brand new.
