So it seems like EVGA quietly removed their guest RMA service on their support site. If you try to use their old link it will loop you to log in or to the support page where you can select an RMA to the cards you have register to your profile.

    http://www.evga.com/support/guestregister.asp

It seems like EVGA didn't bother to tell their customers and their forum MODs were being mostly vague or quiet about it.

    Evga Forum

The only info so far is a generic message that any 2nd hand card that needs a warranty check, you will actually have to physically call evga to find out that info.

So anyone who tends to buy used EVGA products and relied on using their guest RMA service to check the warranty, be aware you'll have to call now in order to check.

they probably didn't bother to tell their forum mods either to try and keep it as hush hush as possible.. not the first time i've seen companies throw their forum mods under the bus.

    Is EVGA loosing their touch?

Been alot of bad stuff happening with them recent including inadequate VRM cooling for pascal cards causing them to catch fire as well as power supplies catching fire and being accused sending out cherry picked samples and this now?

Tho, I did speak with one of their reps on new years eve to get a UEFI BIOS file for my old GTX 670. Had no issues with support. Unsure why they didn't post them online so you don't have to bug them.

so, everyone should call them to check evga warranties. after a few weeks I'm sure they will put up the online check back up. maybe have a list of serial numbers for interested parties to use to call evga about.

Their site was probably getting hammered by everyone and their mamma checking serial numbers from pictures of cards for sale on ebay.

Yea, I hope EVGA doesnt do anything to lose their reputation. Also unfortunate for the secondhand graphics market, as it itsnt as easy to check warranty status.

A lot if not gaming or everything else their mining...and dog everything out with temps 24/7, then wonder why they had stuff fail. I don't know about their gpu's they did have some pretty good psu's though. And of course their mobo's are top notch.

They actually were pretty good about warranty work and replacements, why a lot liked them.

Nothing to do with this move in particular, but I submitted a support ticket on a Sunday a couple weeks back. I wasn't expecting to hear anything from them until Monday or Tuesday, but one of their reps looked up my phone number in their account system and gave me a Sunday call to take care of me. Just one anecdote, but it was way more awesome than anything I've experienced with MSI or Asus. It didn't feel like they were losing their touch.

    Bullshit.

EVGA is in the market of selling GPUs to whoever wants them. If they're getting hammered by too many warranty checks with the products they sold then they should beef up their back end to handle it.

What they're trying to do is prevent 2nd hand sales so people are forced to buy new if they want warranty.

Complete BS if you ask me. The product should carry the warranty, not the person who bought it initially.

Seems whoever buys NEW EVGA card(s) will need to REGISTER them because that's when the 1,095 day warranty will begin for the original buyer who can then call EVGA before posting said card for sale and ask how many days are left on warranty based on serial # ... problem solved

    relax ... it still does

EVGA currently is my absolute top pick. There are other great manufacturers, but the after sale support when needed has me sold.

I used them a month ago for a RMA on a older 2nd hand "9 series" card bought right from these forums when a fan failed. ZERO issues and had a BRAND NEW card sent to me within a week. I don't see any reason to worry... yet.

Mining probably did contribute to this, due to influx of used cards on the market and buyers looking up warranty details.

they should have marked cards as 'for mining only' (maybe embed it in the PCB" and that way when miners bought gaming versions they'd have no warranty.

EVGA gave a 3 year replacement warranty on most all their 10 series cards and if they (or MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, etc) won't honor the warranty (by making bogus failure claims, etc) they will likely have a class action law suite on their hands.

So the removal of the Guest RMA webpage has, IMO, little if anything to do with honoring the warranty period but it does make it more challenging to buy used EVGA cards but then, now it's like it has been for ASUS, MSI and all others - right?

They also (starting May 25th) now require an invoice for second hand warranty claims.

I've had no issues with them! I have bought exclusively from them since the GTX 7XX series and have needed two warranty replacements. Both experiences were handled quickly and with the great customer service, I've heard so much about here in the forums.

I can understand why they would want to do that.... but IT WILL make a huge difference in my ability to buy EVGA both new and 2nd hand.

I can see why they did. You have people like the guy with post number 28 in this thread abusing the system. He won an auction for a dead EVGA gpu on ebay and as soon as he won the auction grabbed the visible serial number in the pic and went to evga and started a guest rma. Karma bit him in the ass though and his payment got cancelled, the seller relisted, and another buyer puchased it.

I didn't know that was a common practice! That's kind of messed up and I can see how it can get to a business's bottom line.

That's why I try to purchase from companies known to have better warranty practices but even that doesn't guarantee a good warranty experience.

Oh I still try as well.
Used to only buy XFX when I bought AMD GPUs and then that changed. Went EVGA alot early on for Nvidia when I heard nothing but good. That changed later on with some bad stories and bad hardware.

Im not saying no company is left with a good warranty but its just like I view it as :
‘take it while you can get it, just dont expect it to last forever.’

Would you say this even applies to the top-end cards that claim to have longer warranties? Are you saying they 'change their mind' at some point? I've never bought a new gpu before, but this is alarming to me as I was using warranty as one way to differentiate an investment in quality.

What was wrong with what he did? I don't quite get the quirks of the USA RMA system.

He never actually had the card in his hands for starters. Should have waited until he actually had it in hand. Then he also threw a big temper tantrum in the thread because as far as the seller could see, his payment didn't go through, he relisted it and it sold to another person.

What is the normal RMA process? Do they not require some sort of proof of an issue with the card before granting an RMA?

I can see that sentiment especially when companies become larger and become worse at customer service like Amazon. They're still much better than other companies in my opinion but they're not nearly as great as they used to be.

I don't necessarily think so. Those cards more often than not will have their warranties honored unless a company goes belly up. XFX and EVGA still have some of the better warranty practices in the industry, although, your mileage may vary depending on the CS rep you're dealing with.

No it wouldn't be like you buy one and get screwed. It's that you buy your first gpu and then by the time you need to buy a new gpu all there warranty practices have changed.
