eVGA falling further behind :D

it's gonna be a close close race. I have a mandatory power outage starting tomorrow night that will last through most of the weekend so my farm is about to take a hit for a few days.

This should be over by tomorrow night lol, 1.1 days left to fold balls out!!

Ok guys, balls out for the next 24 hours and we should be done then! If we can just make 11 mil we will be grand, and we've done it before, I just added another 35k onto my daily output of the last week so crank her up boys and gals, and ifyou are just starting a new rig now, don't go bigadv, it won't be done by then, do a few warm up a3s until we hit 4 bil then go bigadv

Dropped a -bigadv yesterday and pulled a 6xxx, thought about it, shut the client down and removed the -big flag and restarted.. no way was I going to be able to do another -bigadv in time, so this will help more in the short term. Also put the EVGA GTX285 back to work until the 4B mark (atm, wish I had an EVGA mobo so I could rub that in too:D )

... as a side note, I'm liking the weather here. I live in FL and I'm folding with the windows open

Great idea. I have a bigadv finishing up tomorrow morning and will switch to A3s for the final push. I don't think my L5640 will be ready in time but that's ok.

That's my plan too. I'm going to be completing my very first bigadv unit in about 5 hours (a 2684 - getting about 45min TPF on this new i7-930 running at 3.9. I'm switching back to regular SMPs for the next day or two to get as many points in as possible before 4B.

For what it's worth, I just finished my 10th SMP unit, so I'll be able to contribute some tasty bonus points to the final day...

Oh, well, at this point, everything helps, right? :D

Every little bit helps. I was having trouble OC'ing off a template with Skynet3 so I put the bclk at 170 and just let her go to town on standard units at 57k ppd. But before I could sleep I snuck downstairs (no clue why, I live alone now lol, cant wake the lady up) and bumped it up to 180 and did the numa trick, now I'm at 68.7k ppd on standards, every little bit counts lol. If I remember later tonight at work I'll remote my gamer computer and setup a standard smp client on it too lol.

ONE LAST PUSH, ONE LAST BIT OF PISS IN THEIR EYE!!!

We should have the 4 billion with no sweat. I would say keep the bigadv running and do not let up! once they do pass us keep the peddle down and make them earn it! We have more power than we have ever had. I know some cant afford the power bill's and thats understandable. the race hasnt even started yet. its 3.7 days away fold hard brothers!

They are currently 3.5 million ahead of us for the day, if we slack even just a little they could pull the "4 billion first" rabbit out of their hat. Its too close to take a chance, get everything in you can for the 4 billion. I'm sure they would love nothing more than to beat us to the 4 billion mark first, especially after all of the effort we have put forth to get their first. Don't give them that pleasure.

sorry about the pic, I couldn't help myself

Yea, weve fought so hard to get here, we were once a few weeks behind them in the race to 4 Bil (back when I first mentioned it before we even had it as a goal really), and now we can take it from them. That's the way to go down, take something from them. We rose against the odds, increased our team output over 100% (4 mil to 8-9 mil) and almost hit 200%!! (4 mil to 11 mil)

We have done so much to show just who the horde really is, not only as a team but as an icon in the folding community (this goes to you guest folders, thanks!!). Even though EVGA will pass us they will NEVER hold the same position that we still do.

Thanks, but anyone who has ever had soldiers (or service members to be PC) under their command can tell you, there's not many things in this world a motivated soldier can't do. We are soldiers, some of us literally, but all of us in the fight against cancer. We set forth a task, recruited new soldiers, and took on this task not only in the best way we could but with honor and dignity as well. We stood together in the face of a task that not one of us (or one team alone) could have done, and we never looked back, never questioned our resolve. I feel we will complete that task, and I am proud to take second place with anyone that has ever folded with us. All folders are fighting for the same goal, but I have never seen a more dedicated and motivated group of soldiers and I'm proud to fold with my boys here.

We are all part of the army marching on the steps of cancer, but I feel I've done my part with the best of the best has to offer, and members from any team, especially those that stood with us, have earned my gratitude, but to the guys and gals of the [H]orde, I extend my hand.

In my BN we have a motto, Lifeline of the Army. I believe the [H]orde is that lifeline to folders, with not only dedicated folders and members willing to help in any way we can, but a resolve to make sure we guide every folder, no matter the size of his contribution to cause, to be the best folder he can be, in not only his methods and skills, but in his conduct of folding as a cause.

Sorry, it's been a long night, but I am proud of this team and what we have risen to do. I am proud of the way this team organizes and conducts and maintains and enforces the proper ways of this cause. We've never looked for easy ways to better production, we are a unified team with one goal, folding the best way we can for the science until the fight is won.

Until we find a cure, fold on!

Well said Vaulter! They may take #1 for a while, but they'll damn well have to watch their backs! ;) We are the mighty [H]orde, after all.

Of course, after we're #2 in points, we can always challenge them to catch us in number of Work Units completed... :D Let's see them try and catch that!

Pfft, only have 5.3 million to go!

(They are beating us by 1,000 WU's per update though, at 12 updates per day they're looking to overtake us in 441 days.)

It's pretty obvious that they're folding a ton of GPU units to be nearly doubling our WU's per update and yet only topping our PPD by 30%.

BigADV ftw.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I prefer to look at it this way:
#1: the [H]orde @ 12,156,050 WU
#2: Overclockers Australia @ 8,931,928 WU
#3: OC.com @ 8,212,585 WU
#4: evga buckz @ 6,838,098

Besides, using the [H]ardfolding data, their current weekly WU output is 16,867 and our is 9,919 for a difference of 6,948 more daily WU. Take your 5.3 million, divide by 6,948, and my math puts it at about 765 days (8 updates a day, not 12, right?). If they can stick around for the almost two years needed to catch up in total WU, I'll personally stop referring to them as upstarts... Until then, they're still in 4th place! :D

Okay, I'd better stop now, as I don't want to show up over on their boards on whatever is the current neurotic conspiracy thread...

I realized theres only 8 updates in a day so thats why i'm off 33% from your total :-p

5am maths anyone?

I'm sure your 5am maths are better than my 5pm maths will be once I crack a few to celebrate 4 billion when I get home tonight! :D

I know of 3 ladies on our Team.

I always knew that Elleden was a lady, but I used to think the other two on our team were Lehmann and Tiger. I found out that neither of those are girls, so now i'm back to trying to figure out who the other ladies are.

go trhu the post your mug thread, few ladies in there, including one all illusive (sp) one lol

They are inactive but leSLIe and Syribo.

leslie was here about half a year ago for a post or two I think, but yea, they are dormant now

Well that does it. We need to go start recruiting some more ladies for our team. It is actually pretty interesting how folding is just like the performance automotive hobby as you just can't get any girls to join. Girls don't seem to be thrilled about stuff like folding, and they certainly don't get thrilled about high horsepower Mustangs and stuff.

Well the people that get thrilled about folding are usually the PC nerds that build and tweak anyways (I'm not talking Joe folder, I'm talking refresh stats page and remote devices just to monitor nerds)

and we all know the guy/gal ratio in that group of nerds is bad anyways

Yeah, but you always figure that the girls would be much more into what the F@H program is trying to do, which is to further human understanding of protein folding/misfolding since they are the cause of some devastating diseases like Alzheimers, many cancers, and so on. After all, it is usually the girls who are more huminatarian than guys who are just looking to give their massive computing power something to do.

Proof in that is over in the video card subforum here where I swear those folks do nothing but build massive SLI/CFX setups just to benchmark them and wave it around. With folding you figure the whole humanitarian part would be a good sell to the females at least. When you look at all that e-dick waving going on in the video card subforum, I fantasize about what would happen to our production if Stanford gives us ATI folks a decent client.

Folding is just another unit of measurement of one's Epeen, that is all

plus, our numbers are much higher than benchmarks, you may score 40,000 on one bench, but run bigadv on that dual hex and now you're talking 160,000, same package but much more enticing (or less embaracing) camera angle is worth everything in the nerd porn market

nerds need every boost to their ego they can get, and nerds and scientists were the peoplethat invented pills and creams to make your RLpeen bigger, only natural they'd try the same thing online

Maybe I'm playing devil's advocate here but I wonder if we'll ever see anything come of an ATi client now that EVGA/nVidia are basically buying the #1 slot and will certainly be using F@H as a bullet point on their boxes and sales brochures (QFT as Kyle would say).

I'm scared to see what ATi does now. nV takes it over like they're going to, ATi may basically throw their arms up and walk away. I hate to say I couldn't blame them for doing so, even if it will hurt the science more than anything. :(

The difference is running benchmarks all day on your massive SLI/CFX setups do nothing to further mankind, and if anything just wastes a hell of a lot of electricity. With folding, at least you are putting your setup to some constructive use.

I am basically going to give Stanford till next March to release a decent ATI client. If they don't, i'm done with folding, period. It is just stupid to ignore such a huge market considering that ATI now has the lead in the discrete AIB market. I understand their point that they are very limited in the number of coders who can work on any specific project, but it would just add another question mark considering what is going on right now. I don't run GPU clients, but it is the principle that matters. I understand that they chose to optimize for CUDA or whatever it is on nVidia cards first since they used to dominate the AIB market, but times have changed.

Well it's been months that we've been hearing that OpenCL is going to be the panacea standard for GPU folding, so Stanford better make some progress with the V7/OpenMM client in this regard related to AMD gpus.

Considering I've had a 5 to 1 failure ratio of nVidia to AMTDI cards, I'd rather fold on those, but so far, nothing.

I won't stop folding, but GPU folding will be very minor in my future plans if this continues.
