eVGA 780i A0 Post Code

Hey guys, I've been trying all night to figure this out....

I've been looking around and it seems that if I get an A0 post code, it's either dead or I need to reseat the CPU...

Here's my dilemma...I am only unable to boot up and get the A0 error code when I have everything installed (hardware-wise)...However, once I remove my Creative SB Elite Pro Sound Card and leave my 2x8800GT's and Perc 5/i, everything works fine and I only get the 6F post code which tells me to install a floppy disk drive...

I do get a red blink where the CPU 3-pin fan is supposed to be plgged in when I turn my computer on/off. My fan also only works when I plug my fan into my fan controller but doesn't if I plug my fan directly to the mobo...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime Imma go get some sleep. Later...
 
Try updating to the latest BIOS. Is that sound card a PCIE x1 card? There have been fixes for PCIE x1 devices going through the BIOS revisions. Do you have another system you can try that sound card in to see if it is faulty and that is why it is halting your system? That floppy error can be turned off. If you don't have a floppy in your system than change Drive A to None in Standard CMOS Features in the BIOS.
 
So I have reseated my CPU and flashed my BIOS to the most recent one (P07)...I think I still get the A0 error when the sound card is installed along with a red blink where the CPU fan connector is...The system still hangs and I only get a blank screen

When the sound card is out, I get the 7F error but am able to POST and attempt to install windows after pressing F1/Del

Once I enter the BIOS or Boot from DVD, I either get a 01 or 86 POST code...What does the 86 Post code mean? It says reserved in the handbook...


BTW, this is all on a system that have yet to have an OS installed as I am still trying to figure out everything with my Perc 5/i on the 780i
 
I believe 86 is Re-initialize on-board I/O ports. Also can you confirm it flashed to P07?
 
You'll have to disable the floppy support (has to be done in a few places)... I can't remember last time I used a floppy!

Via manual:

I don't see a listing for "A0" post code. However, there's a listing for 0A code, states "mouse initialized".

...My board has four pin cpu fan header...?

To be honest, I'm on my second board now, and everything seems to be going well so far. I will say that I was given great tips from eVga tech support (24/7 BTW). I was very happy, so for that reason I insisted on going with the same board (780i).

My first problems were failing to install vista 64 over a dozen times. I called tech support, and first thing they told me was to flash to p07. This can be determined easily by the last three digits of the bios code at boot screen (p07). Next was to install only basic hardware and no more the 2Gb for the install. Don't know if this is helpful, call tech support.
