You going for the retriever I take it. It is a good ship, and you make some money with it, if you get into mining more you will want to get a hulk and maybe even a second account to fly the orca.

just be careful with the hulk.. people love suicide ganking in high sec space when it comes to the hulk. also i highly recommend getting tech 2 modulated strip miners and using their corresponding crystal addons for what ever you are mining, it makes a huge difference.

I agree, hulkaggadon V is coming up again.
But the tech 2 strip miners make a huge difference, with orca boosts and a maxed skilled orca toon you will mine a ton and not get can flipped.

I did some eft warrioring and got a hulk to I think 40k ehp. Pretty good if you ask me. Plus they are removing insurance from paying out to gankers. Should reduce it some.

So my point. Tank your barge. Yes you sacrifice output but its better then losing the ship.

yeah unlucky me i had taken my high output hulk out to mine that day when they suicide killed me. but wasn't really that big of a deal i have 2 others and that one i had gotten for way under market value.

Well you get a fleet of 7 to 10 destroyers or a single BS or two. The destroyers and/or BS are fitted fully for gank and only have 1-3 rounds of faction ammo loaded in their gun. Then you attack the Hulk. The Hulk usually dies from the sheer alpha and DPS. If this is done in high-sec and depending on the sec status of the system, Concord then comes in after a certain amount of time and kills the attacking fleet/ship. Hence the suicide gank term.

Having a ship for security won't help out too much.

having actually done the suicide ganking thing, i think destroyers are usually preferably because they're faster and cheaper than BS or two in most cases.

they tried to play the whole ganking thing emptying my jetcan and putting in their own can and flying away hoping i'd take it and try to leave.. i never did and just kept mining there. they finally got pissed because it didn't work and suicide killed me with some shitty destroyers. so i warped out in my pod warped back in a distance away and enjoyed watching the police kill them. not really that big of a deal since the ship only cost me 100 mill isk and i made 10 times what the ship was worth anyways so it payed for its self a long time ago. but i'm probably going to go back to mission running anyways once i finish all this damn training crap to use large pulse laser II's on my abaddon. 2 months of mining has gotten boring.

good grief

I have always been interested in this game but never had the time to play

Just spent 2 hours in the wiki...I think it would be easier to get a degree in tax law

Its really not that bad. The wiki uses terminology, and since you have no clue about the game it seems challenging. Once you get into it it becomes more clear.

lol, I have been loosely following this game for years without ever signing up, fairly up on the jargon. I remember the big refining bug exploit controversy a few years ago...and that one woman that had a contract out on her that had her capital ship destroyed and got podkilled by her "ally" who was actually a deep cover hitman hired in meatspace. Heavy game, perhaps the heaviest yet...also huge, I just don't have the time.

Oh ok. Thats understandable. The game can consume alot of time if you want to get the most out of it.

a couple weeks in the game and you will figure it all out. thats why they have a 14 day trial feature. or they might even have the 21 day thing going if you get invited by a friend. even after 4 years i'm still learning stuff which is why i still find the game interesting.

Been playing the game 2 years my self and always learning, and makes it intersting. Are you into the industry side of the game? There is always fun in doing some spreadsheets =)

Well my friend and I have really got into the game. I've training towards a Hulk, and he's training towards Something that will be able to move a lot. After I get the Hulk, I'll start working on my refining skills.

In MMORPGs I've always been more inclined to play with the crafting and job side... never had a character actually get max level lol

see, that is where I'm like...you are doing spreadsheets for your fantasy business...you call that fun??

If I could figure out how to port real world tasks out to a game like environment I would have you guys doing my job AND PAYING ME TO DO IT!!!

hopefully hes training toward the iteron V. since it can carry over 49k m3 when you have it loaded with extended cargo II's and cargo expanding rigs. but he should really work on getting to the orca after getting the iteron V. it will take roughly 30 days to get to the iteron V when starting from nothing though.

only takes 2-3 days to cross train to gallente industrial since you only need gallente frigate III, same goes with any of the other races. just don't try to train to a freighter expecting to use it to transport/empty jet cans since you can't transfer items in space. (i learned that the hard way :D)

btw if your anywhere near domain space i can help you guys out moving stuff if your jet can mining for free since i don't need the money and i honestly have nothing else to do since i'm still training for T2 large pulse lasers for my abaddon.. well at least for the next 2 days til my alt account expires. my main account expired last month.

Yeah all three of my accounts will be expiring in the next 2 days as well. PLEX prices just got way too high. Then again, I might reactivate the accounts on the 28th to get the new and free implant CCP is giving out.

Currently we are in Metropolis, at the star RESET

Kodiak Dracolis (me)
Azazel Dracolis (Him)

I'm currently doing all the mining missions if he's not on to mine with me, while I wait for training.

Should I get the Covetor while I wait for the Hulk?

If you are able to get into a Covetor you are less than 24 hours to a hulk skill wise, money is a bit more.

You got the spreadsheet for each different blueprint that you are trying to produce, and trying to build capital ships, it is best to keep the calculations correct so you know if you are going to make a profit or not, and if you do it all before you buy anything you can be sure of. It can be fun, and time consuming I have more then a few, and have spent days playing with eve, ts3 and excel open.

Depends: Do you have enough isk on hand to buy and fit the Hulk? And possibly replace the Hulk after a suicide gank? If not, go with the Covetor as it will help bring in more ore and therefore more isk faster than the Retriever. Plus it could serve as a backup in the event that you lose your Hulk to a suicide ganker.

yeah i'm just screwed because i can't use any of my money in my paypal account.. pos varification crap.. so i have 400 dollars just sitting there that i can't even touch and i'm not willing to spend 40 dollars on those stupid game cards you can get at walmart to get 60 days added to my account when it only costs 30 from CCP.

i agree with Danni, get the covetor. its a good backup and has a very high isk output over the retriever until you can afford the hulk.

Ouch.

When will the verification issue clear up?

Plus if you're staying in high-sec, it's gonna take a long time for you to earn back the isk you spent on the Hulk. Then there's always always the added danger of a suicide gank, especially when the next Hulkageddon comes around

Good thing I retrained up my mining alt (another 24 hours or so and he would have been in a Hulk) as a Raven pilot now. Mission running is oddly safer than mining.

i can't since i don't have a bank account anymore so theres no way to verify the account so the money is stuck there.

its actually not that hard to make your money back on the hulk. you just have to pay attention to the market in your area. for example in domain space viscous pyro is averaging 133+ isk per m3 when refined right now. along with that working on your refining skills so you don't lose anything when you are refining the ore and also making sure you have a high standing with that station allows for lower taxes. you can make pretty damn good money. in 2 months of mining i've probably made about 600 million in isk. though i've also spent most of that as well. on average i make about 45 million per 1 million m3 of viscous pyro.

greatone use this to find the highest value ore in your area. http://eve.grismar.net/ore/full.php

note everything below kernite is in low/null sec space so ignore those unless you want to risk going out there to mine it.
also the lower sec you are in eg .7 .6 .5 has higher concentrations of the rarer versions of each ore. so for example .6 and lower sec is 95% viscous pyro(just using this as an example) which has a 10% bonus on minerals per m3. where as if you are in .7 and higher you will mostly see the generic versions of those minerals and barely any of the rarer versions which have the bonuses.

No bank account? Are you one of those self-sufficient off the grid libertarian types?
No wait, you still have Internet ..., so what gives?
