Etching How-To

idk i was too excited to browse around..
my case window is too small for that super design,
i'll just use a dremel for the job
 
after reading this thread i decided to do a erch on my own, but then i figured out that i definately need a how to. so please make one.
first i thought etching is a chemical thing but then get out my proxon.

i put it in front of my plain window to show how it looks.
on the pics it didn't look that bad but it looks real crap in person.
totaly uneven and not very straight. :(
 
thats accoustic foam.
bought it at a local car audio supply store.
my hardware store has some cheaper ones in stock but with a beige like coulor.

How well does it work? Any effect on temps?
 
works well, no hearable sound from the gfx cooler.
since it's only fixed in some places there is no effect on temps.
some cables were hidden under the foam to!

did some more etching this weekend and it worked out well.

only thing is that, that the see-trough PS i'm using get's scrachted all to easy.
 
So if i had not taken off the protective plastic off the plexiglass.. what is a good method / chemical to use that wont mess up the plexiglass. something like a gum remover liquid/ substance? to get the remaining sticky plastic off.thx
 
you could get soem 1000 to 1600 grit sand paper on it which shoudl give you a nice frosted effect.
