Can someone explain the equation to find RAM latency in ns?

From what I found on wiki I believe for g.skill ddr4 32GB (2x 8GB sticks) 3200 14-14-14-34-2n

I got first word 8.8~ ns is that right?

fourth word 9.7 ns
eighth word 10.9 ns

you have to know what the clock rate is and how many transfers happen per clock along with how many clocks you have to wait once the request has been sent to the ram...

here u go and I get 8.75ns

timings are only relevant when put into perspective/context as i keep telling people who keep missing the major point that timings is literally only half of the equation.

2133MT/2=1066.5Mhz

(1/(1066.5mhz*10^6))*1000000000=0.937646507ns (cycle time)*10 CL=9.376465073 ns, which is the true latency of the RAM.

The red number is the only number you should care about. CL is meaningless without considering the MTs.

You can have a 4000 CL for all i care as long as the MTs is freakin gigantic.

It is simpler to just use my excel sheet.

Here is a dropbox link to an excel file with it. Just add the MTs and the rest os done.

I use it and save it every so often so I may break it and forget to fix it. I just fixed 2 broken areas so it should be fine. But save your own copy.

BTW I only know how to do first word...if you know how to do the rest...pleas let me know. I would like to improve it.

Also I thought those Gskills were 1n....
