Epic Citadel On Clover Trail+

But, but you use Noobuntu... Not a proper |-|4|~|)(0r3 1337 distro!
Exactly, however I base my "credibility" scores on peoples PSUs... :D

I was waiting for you to show up... and btw, my RocketFish is just as happy to see you as I am!
You know what, I'm going to keep it in my sig, even long after I replace it, just to keep you going, mwahahaha!!! :p :D

You know what, I'm going to keep it in my sig, even long after I replace it again, just to keep you going, mwahahaha!!! :p :D

My credibility score dictates that you wont be doing that at all! :p

I think you might have a defective unit. You should return it to them and ask why it has this lasted longer than 2 weeks without burning your house down. :D

I gave examples of real-world benchmarks such as rendering and transcoding, you know, things that actually use more than 1% of the CPU.
According to you, real-world benchmarks are how fast a web page scrolls and how accurate a touch screen is; almost 26,000 posts on here, and this is all the better you can muster?

Clover Trail devices aren't about top line performance, the question when considering something like a Clover Trail tablet is does it have the performance to do what one wants. The performance is generally only going to be good enough. Synthetic benchmarks will show a lack of top line performance boat aren't necessarily useful for answering more subtle questions of is the performance good enough, particularly when there aren't quantitative benchmarks for common activities. Touch responsiveness, scrolling and pinch and zoom performance, etc. are critical performance considerations for a tablet. Older Windows Atom tablets had lots of issues even with these basics.

Oh that's right, I forgot you operate on tablets with no storage and pathetic processors.
Kind of like a kick-back to 90's computing, no wonder you want benchmarks for how fast a webpage scrolls, it's all the more your CPU can handle.

I also operate on a Sandy Bridge i7 Lenovo x220t convertible with 8 GB and a 512 GB SSD and another SB Core i5 4 GB RAM /128 GB SSD tablet. However the weight and battery life of the Samsung 500T make it very portable and I have full desktop Office 2013 and even have Visual Studio 2012 installed, not something I'd want to work on full time but it's useful for testing and debugging purposes particularly for Metro apps.

Red Falcon

You may already be aware of this, but if you aren't here's a little side project for you.
Grab yourself the latest GCC (4.7.2), recompile your binaries using the AMD optimized cflags (e.g bdverX for bulldozer) and run some benchmarks. The difference will be literally night and day.

And that's on a Bulldozer Opteron. The gains are even greater with Piledriver cores. If you compare to intel processors at the same price point, the performance difference is staggering.

P.S: Forgot to add that the gains are not exclusive to Opterons. Desktop Bulldozer and Piledriver core CPUs benefit greatly from this as well.

If you compare to intel processors at the same price point, the performance difference is staggering.

Intel processors that are at the same price points as AMD processors are usually found in FS/FT. They're also usually C2Ds and C2Qs. Same reason why you don't find the Ford Fusion at the same price point as the Chevrolet Spark or the Nissan Versa.

Also, does that price point figure in the increased electricity costs from running the A/C to cool your house down due to that AMD processor?

I suggest you come up with a more intelligent argument than the typical basement dweller fanboy drivel. Thanks for the laugh though :)

Thanks, I was aware of the fixes, but I don't have an FX processor I could use this on.
If I end up getting one, I'll be sure to give it a try. :)

It's been going strong since 2011, and will into the future just to piss you off!!! :D :D :D
Seriously though, if it blows and takes my whole system with it, it's not really what I would call a loss, considering most of the components are getting a bit dated anyways.

Next build will have a Corsair PSU, and I especially am looking forward to the new-car smell those PSUs have out of the box.

Well I'm glad they work well for you.

So any factual criticisms against AMD are fanboy drivel? Shit, SkribbelKat's got some competition.

Woohoo, CT+ is just a generation or two behind in graphics performance. :p

CT+ uses a PowerVR SGX 544MP2 running at:
300MHz in the 1.2GHz Z2520
400MHz in the 1.6GHz Z2560
533MHz in the 2.0GHz Z2580

For comparison, the Apple's A5 processor runs a SGX 543MP2 at 250MHz and the A5X runs a SGX 543MP4 at the same clock speed, so CT+ isn't doing too bad there in the higher speed versions. For a low resolution handheld, performance should be pretty good.
