Enough static pressure?

Thinking of replacing the stock fans on my CM V6GT with Noctua NF-P12 provide enough static pressure to sufficiently cool my 2500k?

I guess the main reason I am thinking of replacing them is due to the low whine the stock fans are producing. It's grating on me after a while.

Noctua fans are ugly but have tremendous pressure. However, since you want a fan to blow air through a tower air cooler, you would be better served with the Noctua NF-F12 which has much higher static pressure and is PWM controlled. The S-12 is a case fan and the P-12 is Noctua's jack-of-all-trades fan.
 
Yeah, they're ugly. But with a 6 year warranty it's hard to discount. I have 2 NF-P12's and I'm happy with them, except the color.
 
Great fans but the color is a deal breaker for me. Maybe Noctua should make some black ones. I think that would be a smart. In fact, if I worked there, I'd have a meeting about it.
 
You dont need high static pressure fans for an air hsf. Tower coolers aren't that restrictive to need em.

That is just wrong. Some coolers have amazingly dense and deep fin structures. For a given fan size and rpm, sticking a low pressure but high air flow fan onto an air cooler will yield less results than a focused high pressure low cfm fan. That is why the Noctua S12 is, in theory, a good case fan but an awful heat sink fan.

Conversely, the Noctua F12 is a wonderful, if ugly, fan for air coolers and even when under PWM control tends to cool 1-2 degrees more effectively than the P12. Why does it cool better? because it is a focused flow high pressure fan.
 
I have Noctua F12 on my True Spirit. Really great fan but it is not cheap.
 
So I went ahead a replaced the standard coolermaster fans on my V6GT with some Noctuas. Not only do they cool better (about 1-2 degrees cooler, minimal i know) but they are whisper silent. Had to go with the P12's, but they are fantastic. Best part is, you can hardly tell they are Noctua, unless you look directly at the fan and then you will see they are brown, since the shroud covers up the fan housing.

I might get a real dirty look from Kyle posting Tom's here. (I think Tom and him had a falling out a few years back), But information is information and this roundup helped me pick my fan.

They measure all the static pressures of a whole boat load of 120 and 140 mm fans as well as noise and cfm.

Silverstones new Air Penetrator design is very effective at concentrating the airflow straight out from the fan, and it’s ability to overcome the restriction in the 120mm and 140mm airflow tests was amazing.

Enermax has gone to extremes with their LED lighting with their TB Vegas lineup and doesn’t loose the performance in the process.

Cooljag Everflow's pure raw cooling performance was very impressive in the 120mm and 140mm categories.

One of the biggest upset fans when it came out, and you don't include it in a fan test? To me, it has become one of the baseline fans for testing outright performance, just like the YL's set the baseline for performance per buck.
 
The AP-15 is rated at 58 CFM

The cooljag everflow is 110 CFM
 
That test by Tom is just...poorly organized. They could have represented their information in a more digestible format. I'm also not sure I trust his tests (but yes: data is data. It's better than NOT having data). I did notice that he presented certain TYPES of data not commonly seen elsewhere. I have to commend his effort at the very least.

I prefer Martin's fan testing. I think he has done the best and most thorough work on the matter. He is experienced, and he presents his data very clearly with well-reasoned subjective and objective conclusions/comments. He often details possible limitations of his testing, and consistently attempts to improve his experiments.

Scythe (Nidec) Gentle Typhoons are often seen as, objectively, the CFM/db or performance/noise metric leaders. There are several good options at the 120mm size, however, and Scythe GTs are not necessarily the "best" fan. They are my personal favorite.

At high CFM levels, Delta fans are very very tough to beat. There are higher RPM Nidec GT fans as well, but I'm not sure how they compare to the Deltas.

Sanyo Denki makes good fans, but in terms of measured performance numbers, they are not quite at the top.

I would have to also add something else for the GT line, like Delta, NMB etc, the GT fans are one of the very VERY few fans that have a pretty hefty build. And are one of the only consumer market fans I would be willing to put into a server like build. Mine have been going good since they first came out, and my computers stay on 24/7, and the one on my HS has made it through 3 builds already, I can't say that for many other fans.
 
Gentle Typhoons are tough to beat, it's what I run on my radiators. You can also use 38mm-thick fans if your mount accepts them (not all heatsinks do). I use Panaflo 120x120x38mm fans on cheaper builds (they're only ~$9). And yes, static pressure is very important for fans going on heatsinks.
