I have a 420W PSU and am wondering if it is enough to power say a GeForce 8800 GTX or other card in that class? The 12V rail is rated to have 30A if that helps. Thanks!

Which 420W PSU?
What's the specs of the rest of the PC?
Which other cards in that class are you talking about? There are plenty of other cards out there that performs as well if nto better than the 8800GTX but uses less or more power.

This PSU.

PC will have an Athlon X2 (either 89W or 110W) no OC, A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo, 2x512MB PC3200 ram (might upgrade to 2 or 4GB), single 7200RPM HDD, DVD reader, DVD burner, flopply drive (lol), 2x120mm case fans, and a 90mm cpu fan. I don't use either DVD drives or the floppy so I could get rid of those if necessary.

I just threw out the 8800GTX randomly. I am looking for a replacement for my 6600GT so I just want to know what my PSU can handle.

Thanks again!

That PSU might have been enough for the old components of that system. It was made by Topower. It was merely decent when it was new, but is now too outdated for anything modern.

In addition, most PSUs deteriorate with age and use. So there's a good chance that the PSU might not be able to provide the full 420W by now.

Darn, not what I wanted to hear but better than after buying a card I can't use. Thanks for the caution
