Enabled SLI, the remaining PCI-E 4x cannot be used?

I have some very strange performance issue with my new SLI rig. I asked around for solution in this thread.

I just removed my ATI Theatre 550 Pro PCI-E TV card, and WOLA no more problem....

Then I wonder, is my mobo doesn't have enough PCI-E lanes to support two 16x and one 1x cards at the same time?

I check the spec of nForce4-SL-Ix16, the chipset of my mobo.... it should have 38 lanes... should be more than enough....

or it is just because NVIDIA and ATI product shouldn't be used together?

You shouldn't have a problem with the ATI/Nvidia drivers. You'd have to check the specifics of the motherboard as to whether or not that x4 slot is disabled with SLI enabled.

So your board doesn't boot with the x1 PCIe card in there? I would think if there was a lane problem, it just wouldn't show up when you booted.

No, they all worked, however SLI performance is pretty inconsistent, very often it will drop significantly after several minutes of gaming.

I'd read up in the manual about lane restrictions then. I'll bet your SLI is suffering because it's getting uneven bandwidth with the x4 slot in use. Most boards I've seen have disabled PCIe slots when SLI is being used. What board is it?

I'm looking around to see if I can find anything about it in the manual, but I don't see anything that would say the x4 is disabled  . Maybe it is a driver issue.
