EMIII gone wacko

I've been having problems with EM3 lately, mostly self-inflicted. I had my P-M folding a Tinker, and my AthlonXP folding a GROMACS, so I switched them. Just swapped the entire F@H folders. The units finished just fine, and all continues to be well as far as folding is concerned. However, EMIII totally freaked out. It now shows that both machines have a WU in the queue when there is none. Also (now several proteins later on both machines) it shows the correct name of the protein and # of points, but the progress bars are messed up. EM3 shows the progress of one box at "144 of 400" (tinker style) when the core is actually a GROMACS at 95/100. I've tried removing the machine from EM3 and adding it as a new box, but that doesn't solve the problem. Reinstalling EM3 didn't seem to solve it either. EM3 seems to be working fine for the other box (right protein, points, and progress), except for the # of WUs in the queue.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to 'purge' EM3's information, so it starts off fresh for a box?

I don't think your problem exists in EMIII... I think it exists somewhere in the switch.... you switched the entire F@H folder between the PCs.... but not the registry entries... I think there is a way to switch WUs between PCs... but I think you only take the work directory and another file or two... not the whole thing......

Anybody out there done this recently? it's been a long time since I tried that....

Did you copy one folder over the other? LPerry has suggested in the past, that files in the work folder that aren't part of the current unit can cause substantial issues to how EM3 tracks the stats...

When I get home tonight, I'll have to go through and clear out the extraneous files in the work folders, and see if that clears up the problem. Should I shut down EM3 while I clear out the folders, or will it make the changes on its own?

I would just start and stop EMIII after you have cleaned out the prev WU files. Upon restarting, it should start monitoring the correct files and not be messed up. This is only if what your are experiencing is the problem.

I've had to clean out old files several times on my friend's machine because sometimes he will stop F@H by killing the process since I have it installed as a service. I keep telling him to leave it alone as there is virtually no way it's affecting what he says it is. Anyway, when he does that, it will sometimes kill the WU the machine was working on. When this happens, F@H doesn't always clean out the folder properly leaving behind the extra files which messes with EMIII's tracking. I think if you let it go all the way around it would fix itself, but this way is easier and quicker.

yup, I currently have 1 or 2 clients that EMIII thinks has WU waiting to send... I just wait it out... 99.9999999% of the time, it's just some file the client left behind the EMIII sees....

Well, I went ahead and deleted the leftover files, and all is now well again. Thanks for your help, everyone! And big thanks to LPerry for the great program!
