Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel

When he said they still have a lot of the people that made Skyrim are working on it that gave me some hope.

Wonder how she got to be a CEO of xbox gaming division. Can we have a hard-core gamer and fine, if they insist, with polished executive presence and background if necessary (there are plenty of those). But if the gaming is not in your DNA since your childhood how sucesfull will you be in that role?
Oh, we all know how she got to be CEO...but we won't be turning this into a Soapbox thread.

This new CEO is just in there to cut costs and make the shareholders more money, and if that means gutting the developers that create these great games, so be it in her eyes, she doesn't care as long as there's more pennies earned at the end of the day and costs are down.

Eventually she'll move onto some other company or industry after leaving Microsoft in shambles, but she'll get her mega big payday in the meantime.

And then 2 to 3 years from now, Microsoft / X-Box leaders, will ask, what happened to our great business? It's destroyed and gone. And they'll like blame the Gamer's or something.

IIRC she was in charge of the AI division at M$ prior to this role so that should tell you all you need to know about the future of Xbox.

I believe they are going to dismantle Xbox and sell it to the highest bidder (Saudis) over the next few years unless something drastic happens. All the people that made the studios they brought great are long gone.

Bold to assume any CEO actually gives a fuck about the product instead of the fat stacks it rakes in

Except the Arizona iced tea dude. He has the right idea.

Xbox hasn't been relevant in years...Sony won the console wars for the past 2 generations...there's nowhere to go but up...maybe Sharma will be able to bring it back to life the same way Lisa Su brought AMD back from the dead

The problem is that Microsoft wants XBox to make money NOW. But in order to make money NOW, they need to have a good brand, infrastructure, talent and IP TODAY.

And unfortunately, Sony has put in a ton of money, effort and talent building a brand YESTERDAY, so they have the option to make money NOW.

Xbox has been in shambles for years. I can't remember the last time they published a game that made owning an Xbox over another platform worthwhile.
Bethesda is a joke at this point, with or without Asha's involvement.

They have the IPs but no talent to make anything of them. Sony is getting greedy and lost focus on what out them on top and continue to do so. I wouldn't be surprised if next gen for Sony and MS might be their last. Two more tops. Nintendo will continue on doing their own thing.

the quote at the end of the trailer:

"The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate"
-Yazar, Moth Priest of High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell

This confirms that the plot will revolve, at least in part, around the Elder Scrolls themselves, the mysterious artifacts of divine making...the quote is dated 4E 206, which is just five years after the events of Skyrim in the official timeline

according to Jason Schreier the game is still 2 years away from release (most likely to launch as an exclusive launch title for the next gen Xbox console in Holiday 2028)

The ES gameplay is dated at this point. Combat has always been a big low-point and nothing they've done in the past 10+ years has shown that they're capable of fixing it. There are people that still like it though; one of my co-workers thinks Starfield is amazing.

Sentinel sounds more like a sci-fi name versus an Elder Scrolls fantasy game...all the other games had cool names- Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim
Sentinel is pretty well rooted in fantasy; usually a tank class. But yeah, it does also make me think of Halo, No Mans Sky, among some others.

I genuinely don't understand how their games do so well on consoles but I get the huge PC numbers as, historically, Bethesda games have been amazing canvases for modders. I generally power through the base game in order to get a feel for it and determine the type of mods I want and their priority of importance to make the game good but I think even that has lost it's appeal. I tried with Starfield and just couldn't bring myself to give a shit. With so many other, good, open world RPGs out and in the pipeline I just don't find this doing anything for me at all and I've been an Elder Scrolls fan from the beginning.

Silly Bethesda, you gave us a 30 second teaser 8 years ago.

Literally much ado about nothing.
