I recently purchased this block and noticed something odd, it appears there might be corrosion on the nickel plating surface, almost like its tarnished. Is this normal? I have sent an e-mail off to EK asking for their input. The block functions fine, this is merely cosmetic but I'm curious to see what you guys think...

Normal no. It looks like it is a polishing compound that didn't get cleaned off all the way and has oxidized. I would doubt the nickel would have any kind of corrosion happening within about 3 months of first being used.

That just looks like smears to me. Take it apart and clean it, I'd start with white vinegar mixed with water and a tooth brush.

Yeah, looks a lot like smears. Try cleaning it off with what RickyJ suggested, and if it doesn't come off and return to the original copper color, you have a serious problem, and you need to RMA that thing.

After e-mail correspondence with EK rep. I was advised to try and polish the nickel myself and that would not be caused under normal operating conditions. The rep also said to avoid using vinegar.
