Ebay returns

I stopped selling on ebay a while ago. How many times I got returned motherboards with broken pins or an empty box. Or even different items different than what I sold. But it doesn't matter. I spoke to an ebay rep, he said the only way to win that kind of claim, if buyer admits it. I even had a buyer admitted after receiving his $$. But eBay's response was "go sue him." I can't believe they are still in business.

I had a buyer return a still sealed external dvd drive. Due to " does not work" .... but i had alrady confirmed the return because i wanted to be a nice guy... never again

Well, IMO you did get back the item and it was still working and it was still in a sealed box. Sounds to me things turned out well considering we're talking eBay transactions and what others wind up experiencing (empty box returned, item damaged to ensure refund, etc).

Sold a used Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3; currently using it once again in my gaming PC. Buyer received it, waited 2 weeks , said it wasn't working right and wanted a refund. I emailed and asked them to describe the problem they were experiencing and they wrote back. "Just give me a refund." So I clicked the refund button out of concern they would damage the board if need be just to ensure a refund, provided they had not already bricked the board. Board arrived, worked perfect, no failures. So I got the board back for keeps plus kept the full payment (plus shipping) and the buyer wound up paying for the return shipping, all because they shipped it 6 business days after the return label was issued. Ebay has a 5 business day " ship it " window. After that the buyer looses any return option and has to pay for all shipping if they want the item back.

But eBay's response was "go sue him." I can't believe they are still in business.
hard to believe an eBay rep would suggest a law suit. Mention anything legal and they transfer your call or tell you they can't continue because you brought up law suit talk. I guess when it's the other way 'round it's ok to mention LOL ... go eBay !!!
Regarding still being in business, I saw an eBay commercial on TV yesterday during a college football game. The mining craze gave eBay tons of $$$ (10% per sale, average sale $400 ... sure is a ton of $$$ they made) and many folks have large businesses there so I doubt it will close shop any time soon.

Amazon warehouse is their open box and returns outlet.
Hmm, I received an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW from Amazon Warehouse KY and it was in a factory sealed box ... cellophane and EVGA seals intact

well IMHO i lost money for shipping twice because a duded did not want to live up to his responsibility once he placed the order.. could it have been worse. yes but still a dick move that will make me no give that kind of service to anyone anymore

This thread probably contains the most ethical people you'll find to sell stuff to or buy from because we've all been scammed by some kid (I really hope these are kids doing it). I have G.Skill Flare-X 2x8GB DDR4-3200 4-4-4-4-14 for sale at 165 shipped and it's weird how some items take forever to sell and some go quickly. I'm pretty sure my Google Wallet policy (no need to give fees to PayPal, and my buyers don't need the protections because my sales are always legit), but honestly, having no buyer's protections probably stops scammers more than anything. I can see why it makes people uneasy but I don't use ebay or Paypal. The only point to checking Ebay is to appraise your own stuff anymore. Selling in specialist forums like this one is probably more reliable.

I bought a Playstation 2 from Wal Mart years ago. Was psyched about getting it so I wanted to look at it as soon as I got to the truck. Luckily I looked at it because someone had gutted it. I had to go back and forth with those employees for hours before they decided to replace the system. They thought I did it!

Recent story from ebay on the purchasing side:

I bought a necklace that was marked as 10K and 10 Grams. I went and had it tested about a week after it arrived. Necklace tested as completely fake. Even reacted to the magnet. Called the lady and she instantly said no refunds, no returns. She went on to begin saying that I was going to send her a necklace that wasn't the same necklace that she sent me. I documented everything on my cell phone in video though! text the video and she began stating that I allowed the jeweler to walk out of my sight for a few moments to retrieve the testing acids! This made her begin telling me some bizarre story about how a jeweler once replaced her mothers rings with fakes! That the jeweler stole my real chain and replaced it with a perfectly matching fake! It was a nightmare dealing with this person. Ebay had to step in and force the return. I gave this seller bad feedback but some how she got ebay to remove the bad feedback! this seller that tried his/her (sounded like a tranny... I know it's not politically correct... but someone like that gives their community a bad name) hardest to scam me with a fake chain still has immaculate feedback. It was telling me I still hadn't left feedback on the ebay app so I tried to leave bad feedback again but it wouldn't let me leave the seller any feedback at all

Last thing I sold on eBay was a new opened rifle scope. Couldn’t use it due to an eye issue, I had it on my rifle for less than five minutes. I labeled the auction as opened and opened in like new condition, see auction pics for details of the condition. I had high res pictures against a white background. Sold the item for well under market value, then payment took multiple days even after I emailed the invoice to the buyer multiple times. But hey at least I didn’t lie like all the other idiots selling clearly used items as “new”.

Three weeks later buyer files a return request without ever contacting me. Claims the scope was used and scratched up, not as pictured in the auction. I offer a partial refund of 25% the cost of the scope because I just know the buyer used the damn thing and scratched it all up. Plus I was going to lose any dispute regardless of how right I was. After the low selling price, Ebay fees, and the partial refund, I would have just given the scope to a friend.

It could be much worse. He could've sent you an empty box. Ebay only makes sure that the tracking status is "delivered" before refunding the money. There is no recourse at all.

Just realized your later post.

This is why i stopped using ebay. There's too many scammers. I just sold my 2 980ti cards here for much less than I could have gotten on ebay, simply because ebay is nothing but scamming douches anymore.
damn, with you would have sold to me

That ever happen to me I make it my life's work to come to your house with a bat and chainsaw!!

I have yet to be scammed on ebay, although there have been a few attempts and disputes.

I sold a new iPhone5 for like $550, shipped it with signature confirmation. Right after delivery they buyer said their account was stolen and did a chargeback. Ebay put the money on hold but then released it 5-6 days later.

I tried to sell an i7 6700k. It sold 3 times, each time the buyer said their account was stolen. Luckily I put 2 day handling time before shipping and they reported it before I shipped each time. Paypal tried to still charge me paypal fees 2 out of the 3 times.

I haven't had anybody try to return something as broken/not working. This seems to be how you get scammed and I have just been lucky. I always prefer to sell on forums but sometimes things don't sell for a month+ so I put them on ebay.
