eBay Hardware Brag Thread

Here's a mini sneak-preview of my thread dedicated to this project, which is coming soon.

Anyway...

First LGA 2011 8-core ES was defective. My other two chips arrived today and work fine. Windows is installed and stable, and it runs very well on my ASUS P9X79. My rig is currently been running Prime95 blend for an hour without issue. I plan on letting it run overnight.

Some quick stats:

8 cores/16 threads at 1.6 GHz, although Prime95 reports 2.0 GHz (chip might have turbo?)
At 100% load, stock speeds, with a 5850 on idle, this system draws ~159 watts at the wall.
This is a 70 Watt TDP chip, running at a very cool 50 degrees with a really bad bolted-on cooler under full load.

Ok, check if their stable etc etc but you really need to see if they can OC. Try 1.25x and see what happens.
hex i7 (125 MHz x 36 x 6) = 27 GHz
oct Xeon (166 MHz x 20 x 8) = 26.5 GHz

Patience, guys! I'm working on it! Work has been very busy lately.

Preliminary PPD at stock clocks:

19,884 PPD on a 7158 (regular SMP). This is running with only one DIMM for now.

Results with more memory, overclocking, and BIGADV under linux coming later.

:D

Looking forward to it. For anything 2.5ghz or under however we should be able to get baseline performance from a 2600k at twice the clockspeed.

R-Type - got some LGA 2011 motherboards incoming for STH and a 3.0GHz ES that is with the USPS and 45 miles away.

That one dimm is killing the memory bandwidth. I bet once you get it up to quad as it should be you'll see a nice performance boost.

Hi NobleX13.

Do you succeed in overclocking your Xeon ?

Scored a pair of 6168's for $47 each from a seller who had no idea what he was listing...now the question is, 4P G34 or resell?

Resell to me for cheap? I have a pair of 1.9's and room for 2 more:D

Bwang,
I could find a home for them if you wanted to spread the love ;)
