Birthday coming up in June and was going with an I5 2600k but scored $1500 on a scratch off ! So I'm going with a build that will last me another 3-4yrs. Going to put that money along with what I had set back for the I5 build for a total of $2000.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? I play alot of BF3 and photo editing using Photoshop and Light room
2) What's your budget? $2000 -2200 give or take a few dollars
3) Which country do you live in? Cabot, AR Unfortunately, I do not have a MicroCenter or Fry's nearby
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, videocard, SSD, maybe PSU, Corsair H100 (or something better and cleaner looking)
.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? I have a 1tb WD Black, Asus Xonar DX soundard, SilverStone ST75EF 750W <---still kicking strong, let me know if I need something better. I have included a new PSU as part of my budget
6) Will you be overclocking? If needed yes but I don't see that point at the moment
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? Asus VH242H 24in 1920x1080
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Soon, If I need to wait then I'll throw the money in my savings for a few weeks til something else comes out
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? SLI for future vidcards, USB 3.0, easy overclockability?
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? Win7 64
Here's what I have so far from some of the member's recommendations that I've seen in this section:
Processor: Intel Core i7-3930K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116492
Motherboard: MSI Big Bang-XPower II LGA 2011 Intel X79 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130626
Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233197
Videocard: MSI N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127672
SSD: Crucial M4 (x2) 1 for OS and the other for games and photo editing software) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148448
Cooling: CORSAIR H100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181017
PSU: CORSAIR AX850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139015
Case: Corsair SE White Graphite Series 600T http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139005 Also going to pick up the acrylic door from MXPCTech shortly after the build
Total $2242.92 This is an extreme system for me and I would probably never have the chance to buy a system like this if it wasn't for the winning scratch off. I want to have something that I can be satisfied with til I win another scratch off in a few years
Thanks for any advice or suggestions in advance
