Earbuds

King i have the same ones lol but the wiring is all messed up & starting to come out everywhere......They sound great but they dont fit to snug in the ear but i think all ear buds are like this..I was wondering if the ones i posted might sound better, & the wiring looks like its better quality than the mess with monos...

I just bought a pair of MeElectronics M9's based on recommendations and I really like them. They are cheap for the good quality that you get. Price ranges from $13-$20.

M9 without mic.
M9P has a microphone built in.
And despire what Amazon thinks, the M31 (bass heavy model) is in no way a replacement for the M9. I'd rather have the M9 myself.

I haven't tried those. I know the M9's are better than Skullcandy and Sennheiser cx300. I paid more for the silver ones on Amazon knowing the price was going to come down soon, but I needed to get them quicker.

Amazon has MeElectronics M9 black (without mic) for $16
Overstock has M9 Black or Silver (without mic) for $15.49 /w free shipping
Overstock has M9P black (with mic) for $14.40 /w free shipping
Amazon has M9P black (with mic) for $9.99

Edit: looks like the Amazon ones currently have free shipping as well, without having to spend $25. :)

A laptop speaker in an old soup can sounds better than beats. The m9 is solid in that price. Google around there are already tons of discussions.

Beats aren't bad at all, they're just massively overpriced and overrated. It's kind of like Bose, only Beats are more accurate. Skull Candy, on the other hand, those sound like absolute garbage.

Charging $100 for iems that sound worse than $20 ones is my definition of bad. With sc iems they range from crap to solid for the price. I use a pair for working out, I destroy headphones at the gym and sweat all over them so I picked up 4 pairs that are normally $40 for $8 each on a target clearance and they are damn good for the price and I'll take them over beats crap any day of the week.

I was looking for cheap earbuds recently as well.

Ended up getting the Philip SHE3580 ($7+$2 shipping off ebay). But they haven't arrived yet so can't comment on them personally.

The others I considered were -

Monoprice 8320 (might get them anyways since they are different)
JVC HAFX40 (was much higher priced here in Canada compared to the US)
Sony MH1c (a bit more at $30-$40, was worried about the cord)

If aren't strictly looking for earbuds, consider the Koss KSC75. Great budget audio solution.

Can checkout the large IEM review thread at head-fi.org -

Beats are made by Monster Cable. That should tell you all you need to know about their price vs. value.

Checkd out that thread. Seems to have many opinions from M6 to M9..thing that bothers me with most iems is fit issues
Never knew that w4ffles..so anything dre beats is not worth it? My nephew wants the Beats by Dre Beats Studio High-Definition Headphones 299! Im running a set of monoprice headphones & they were 16 lol

Second on the Monoprice 8320s. Got these just for the hell of it because they were so darned cheap, and the sound knocked my socks off. Get several and scatter them around places where you wouldn't leave your premium 'buds for the times you forgot to bring the premium 'buds.

When you get 'em, google on how to put 'em in your ears (cables should come out of the top, not the bottom when they're in your ear), and get different tips for them; they only come with one set and they're the only thing that underwhelms about these. If these were $50, you'd be satisfied, but for $6 they're absolutely outstanding. Amazingly clear definition (as in "I can hear stuff I didn't know was there on tracks I've listened to over and over again before I got these") and if you get a good seal, very nice bass that doesn't step on the midrange. Bass gets better the more you use them, too - I guess they "burn in".

For less than $20 you can get this instead:

Monoprice 8320 Earphones - $6.04 w/o shipping

I have the Monoprice earphones and they are VERY good for the money.

Unfortunately they are quite uncomfortable for some people. :( If monoprice fixed that, they could sell it at twice the price and still have a massive winner on their hands.

A laptop speaker in an old soup

Has anyone actually tried this? I think it would be hilarious.

At least their cables work as well as any other (albeit cheaper) cable (and no better). Can't say the same about their headphones.

Just got the M6's today. I must be missing something here because these are terrible. Testing them with FLAC versions of The Wall and ACDC, it sounds like the treble is maxed out and bass minimized. Plugged them into my SB x-fi. Tried gaming also...terrible. Sounds like ears up against a laptop speaker. These are headed straight to my 7yr old's room. She can listen to farmville on her tablet.

*edit*

Confirmed my daughters Hello Kitty Ear buds sound 100% better.

lol so the m6 are crap?! Really need sum more opinions I have a feeling these monoprice are going to crap out soon bc the inner wiring is coming out everywhere...

The sound from the M6's are like tying two tin cans together with a string and talking through them. Maybe I just got a bad set, who knows. I am no audiophile by any means but believe me when I say these things are utter crap.

You must have not gotten a good seal with them. I have heard many IEMs from outright shit, to mid-fi sets that sound better than any I'd ever heard before, and I can say from my own subjective experience that the M6s are kosher. (especially for the price) How many different sets of tips have you tried with them?

I tried each of the tips that came with it. The seal is good as I can hear my own breathing using the largest tips. The mono's just arrived today and the sound is much fuller. Good bass, a bit high on the mids though.

Yeah I've had the me-9's for the past year or two and they've been great sounding for the buck!1st pair with the mike didn't last to long because of the mike connection in the middle came loose second pair went out last week with the connection to the ipod so i got klipsh s4's now course they need a break in period still and yes the me9's at the moment still sounded better to me(better bass for one thing).but we''ll see how they sound over the next couple of three months.

One thing about earphones though (well audio in general) is that sound signature is somewhat subjective and preference based.

The Monoprice 8320 earbuds have good sound but for some reason just didn't sit comfortably in my ear. I spent a week fiddling with the positioning and ended up giving them away because I couldn't wear them without getting an earache. They may not work out for everyone, but at $7 you can't feel guilty about giving them a try.
