The news of EA’s legal victory over Edge Games takes a back seat to the smack laid down by the judge in this case:

The court has denied Edge Games’ motion for injunction, citing that it believes that Langdell made fraudulent statements to the US Patent and Trademark Office and strongly believes that Langdell is “suspect,” and has been “trolling” the game industry for licensing opportunities. His actions could possibly warrant “criminal penalties.”

maybe some parts of the court system are catching up with the technology.

And now for something completely random, anybody remember the old EA logo back in the Commodore 64 days? It was EOA. Never understood what the "O" stood for or if it was something else.

Wasnt the "O" for the onic in the word Electronic?

OMG GOOD!!

maybe we can finally see some games with the word "EDGE" in it again. It was retarded how the guy licensed the friggen word!!

It actually seems like the term "trolling" is being used more in the fishing sense, but whatever. Still funny.

From the wiki on Electronic Arts (and I remember the logo very clearly):
A small company in Wales was already called Electronic Arts, and until 1997 Electronic Arts in the UK was known legally as EOA, a name derived from its square/circle/triangle logo. The Welsh company ceased trading in 1997 and Electronic Arts acquired the rights to the name.

So that's what it was. Used to wonder about it but havent though about it since about 1987. I remember sitting there staring at that EOA while Mail Order Monsters was loading thinking "what the hell is that "O" for?
