E8600 results...

Just thought id toss in my e8600's oc ability.

4.0ghz - 1.208 vcore load, intel burn test (10 runs) stable
4.1ghz - 1.232 vcore load, stable
4.2ghz - 1.272 vcore load, stable

Havent pushed any after 4.2ghz as I dont expect any real world benefits after that.

thats what I said.... in so many words

e8400 C0's hit 4Ghz but most need some extra volts.
e8400 E0's hit 4Ghz easily (don't need as much volts)
 
Plan on setting up new system with E8600.
Most on this thread agree that 4.4 Ghz is a good top end on air.
Most are using intel MBs.
Want to go SLi. Do you think I can get the 4.4 Ghz with the Nvidia chipset?
Nvidia appears to be hotter and more problematic.

I run one on a 750i sli board. Ive had zero problems out of it and it oc's damn good to. I had up to 4.8ghz but did not like my temps, so I lapped it and my h/s. This is a pic of right after I put it back together, my temps dropped roughly 8°c on idle and load. Will try more ocing tomorrow...

I am running an E8600 at 4.4ghz now, 1.38 vcore, but have some 2000mhz DDR3 ram (currently underclocked to 1760). Would it be better to drop the multiplier to 9 and run the FSB at 500mhz so I could run in sync mode with the ram.

I am using an Asus P5E3 premium mobo but reluctant to raise FSB to 500, as I don't see many people doing this plus I am unsure how high the MB temps can/will get. Anyone have experience with this? BTW I am bit of a noob at OCing. TIA
 
Just curious... how much of a performance difference in games are any of you getting OC'ing from the stock 3.33MHz to 4+?

I've never been one for OC'ing, but I am curious if anyone has seen a notable difference. Even at the stock 3.33 with the E8600, it's a beast.
 
I just noticed that I have an engineering sample E8600 but I ordered it from a regular vendor. Is an engineering sample worse than release sample? I have read one article suggesting that ES processors are most likely damaged due to stress testing by intel.
 
ES CPUs can be better or worse than retail chips. It's really just luck of the draw. Chances are if your chip is fairly recent it'll be on pretty much equal footing with production chips.
