Ok, so I just installed my new Tuniq tower and AS5. I overclocked to 3.6 and I'm getting 40 deg. idle and up to 60 load on CPUID Hardware Monitor. Don't these temps sound a little high or does the AS5 need to cure?
Correct setting is 100
So heres the deal. Tonight after work I changed the cpu voltage to 1.15. Have been running Prime95 for over a half hour and temps are staying under an ice cold 45 deg. So either the voltage change helped, or the AS5 cured and made a big difference.
Try lapping your CPU.
It's not a verified EVGA-rep. And even if it was, they don't warranty your intel CPUThis CANT be really EVGA stating to Lap your new proc?
I did my Q6600, only because I gave two shits about the warranty and will clock it till it dies. Don't lap your proc to solve your heat issues, its not needed.
I agree. I see the point of lapping but again I don't. I am only taking my E8400 to 3.6. So a few deg. either way is not a big deal. And for 6 hours of work I don't think it is worth it.
