Setting the budget at $2000 usd.

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Brookville, Pa. United States

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU,CPU Cooler, Ram, Mobo, Video Card, SSD, Case (Preferably Raven2), ?PSU(current antec 850w), Os windows 7 (preferably)

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
?PSU-Antec 850w, Das keyboard, 2x 27' Hass g 1920x1080 monitors, samsung spinpoint 750gig hd, western digital 1terra black, asus bluray reader (sata), logictec g9x mouse, fatal1ty soundcard.

6) Will you be overclocking?
on the cpu a bit, but the system will run for a few weeks strait

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
2x 1920x1080, with a 1080p hdmi 32' flatscreen tv as well
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

within the next two weeks.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
Preferably crossfire/SLi support for future upgrades.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Currently have windows vista 64bit, would like to fit in an upgrade for windows 7

Your two videos are used to fight in the old system? :p

Which version of Vista do you have? Is it an OEM license or retail license?

Which Antec 850W PSU do you have?

It seems to be the Antec TPQ-850

The vista is a retail license. I was kinda hoping that i could use the old e8400 with the 4870's to have a HPC after it all happens that way i dont have to look for my mouse cursor on 3 different screens

edit: btw yes both 4870's do fight... for air!

Since your budget fits SLI right now and you are considering SLI in the future then you might want to consider doubling up on Danny's recommendation for the GTX 670/Ripjaws combo. That would leave you just about enough to buy a Catleap 1440p monitor and then you're rocking high rez gaming!

Few questions on your recomendations, First off how long will the i5 last me, should I think about getting an i7 to make my investment last longer.

Next question for you would be how well the ram performs. I know i ended up spending the extra money for better timings and higher clock speeds on my last build, would it be a good investment to spend a bit more to get better timings or clock speeds.

It seems like the 670 is getting a fair bit of praise, but would it be better to get a 680 and plan on geting another in a month or so.

Finally the liquid cooled corsiar heatsink, do you have any experience with this? The only type of heatsink i've been installing have been the air cooled solutions.

That i5 should last you quite awhile. An i7 is not worth getting if you're just gaming since most games these days as well more than likely future games don't take advantage of the i7's HT feature at all. As such, an i7 pretty much performs the same as an i5 in games.

With current Intel CPUs, outside of synthetic benchmarks, lower timings or higher clock speed don't provide a noticeable performance increase in real world apps or games. So basicallly a CAS 9 DDR3 1600 RAM will get you the same performance as a CAS 7 DDR3 2400 RAM. So in other words, no it's worth spending any extra cash on faster RAM or lower timings unless you must have a larger epeen.

You're only gaming at 1920x1080. So a single GTX 670 is actually more than enough for that mid-high range resolution considering the general trend of PC games being a little more lenient on hardware requirements than in the past. A GTX 680 is only worthwhile if you're actually gaming at 2560x1440. So unless you're planning on upgrading to a 2560x1440 monitor within the next month or two, stick with the single GTX 670.

It's a solid solution.

Thank you for your response, i guess my final question would be what kind of psu would you get to support that build. I was kind of thinking of turning my old system into a HTPC for the living room. I've already got a spare mx5000 bluetooth combo for the inputs, and i might as well use the old system for something. Do you happen to have a recomendation or watt range i should look for for that current build, i know that the 670's dont seem to draw too much power, so i may just buy two of them.

I recommend these PSUs:
$110 - Corsair 750TX V2 750W PSU
$145 - Corsair HX750 750W Modular PSU

However, I doubt you'll really need a second GTX 670.

If i plan on adding more then 2 monitors do you think i'd need a second gpu? I know that for my current setup i do need 2 gpu's because the 4870 only has 2 dvi ports.

If you're planning on gaming using all three monitors at the same time, yes you should get a second GTX 670. However, if you're only gaming on one monitor and the other two are just for misc apps, then no you don't need a second GTX 670 as the GTX 670 has the ability to power 3-4 displays right out of the box.

Just ordered everything on the list, I'll keep this thread alive a while longer while until i have it up and running.

Well posting from the new rig, just got everything up and running. For those that were wondering that h60 heatsink was extremely easy. I had a harder time trying to get my modular psu to cable out right, it seemed the corsair 750 made the cables about 6" to short for most of the runs to look right.

Well those Corsair PSUs weren't designed with the unique layout of the SIlverstone Raven series in mind.;)

In any case, glad to see the PC is up and running with minimal trouble.

I'll upload some pics tomorrrow, i've got to get my wd 1tb drive to recognize first. Yeah about the raven2, it's a little side note about the psu just being able to reach my bluray player. Had to use a full 4 prong sata power just to reach it, the other 3 are not in use, and i don't think they can be of any real use.
