E6600 vs. E6700

Any pros of getting an E6600 over the E6700 or otherway around?
In my sig, my main rig's motherboard died on me and it's time to get a C2D.

E6600 or E6700?

I'm not waiting for July 22nd as I have absolutely no need for the Q6600.

I'd say the e6600 as its cheaper and has the same amount of cache and just allitle bit slower So you can get a e6600 and a better motherboard *so great ocing* instead of a e6700 and a not so good motherboard.. anyways if you switch to C2D you'll need to change your username

The 6600 is the way to go , if you like to OC.

If you are getting a high FSB board like the P5B Deluxe get the E6420 for well under $200.

most core 2's are limited by volts not the mobo. if i was you, and had the cash, id get e6700

not to diss on the C2D (i loves me 4300), but how about picking up a AM2+ board (first am2+ boards have been seen at computex today), and wait for AMD to drop the barcelona surprise?

id probably get a e6600 in your case though, or if you will be clocking it anyway, maybe save some cash and get a 6420

good thing he wasnt you, e6600 w/bad stepping on a good board can get 3.2 easily, so matching the e6700 stock speed is relatively easy and cheaper alternative...given you have a good experience in oc'ng intel, unlike me...from opty >e6600 , P5K Deluxe

It's been a couple months since I've done CPU research, but if it's relatively the same, the E6600 would be the better choice, especially for OCing. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Sorry but I was talking about running the mid to low 400's for FSB like on 975X chipsets. Talking about 525+ FSB and 1:1 ratios to take advantage of descent DDR2.

For me, Q6600 is well worth waiting for. But if you're not a cruncher, then perhaps the slight speed increase and lower wattage of the E6700 would be more beneficial.

Your OCing your AMD machine so I assume you will OC the Conroe (shame if you didnt) that makes the 6600 the winner as there is little difference between the two processors as to where the top end is on OC. The 6600 will OC to the same range the 6700 will OC too. Save the money. Same core and we all have pretty much determined that current Intel speed binning is all marketing anyway.

My 6600 does 3.5 like it was meant to be.

But it absolutely wont do 3.6 no matter wht, It will boot but crashes once you start getting into anything, or 50 min in orthos.

Paying 100 dollars (200 way back when) for 1 extra multiplier is a waste.

'Definitely not worth the extra money. I mean, with the FSB frequencies these E6600s can reach, a 9x multiplier is plenty.
