I'm running an E6600 on an eVGA 680i board with a Zalman 9700. Temp under load with Orthos is 54C and idle temp is 40C. Is that normal? I want to OC but am not sure about the temps.

I'm using the original Lian-Li PC61. It doesn't have a top or side vent. I took off the side panel and the load temps dropped to 44C. Does that sound like a reasonable cause and effect? If so any ideas on how to keep the panel on and yet keep low temp?

Those temperatures are very good imo, my E6600 idles at around 46-48C and 60C at full load.

With your same setup, excluding the Zalman 9700, I had 25C idle and approx 40C full load.

I'm currently overclocked to 3.2GHz from 2.4GHz, and idle temp is 40C right now. Full load is 55C.

You running watercooling?

Oh nvm.

My E6600 runs at 37c idle and 55c under full load with the stock cooler and this is with it at 3200mhz (overclocked). This is on a ASUS P5W DE Deluxe.

I have 5 fans in my Lian-Li though. Still a very quiet setup.

What are your room temps, mine are about 70f.

My E6600 at stock idles at 33C full loads at 48C on Cooler Master Mars, ambient temp around 20C.

Also should add, how are you guys measuring temps?

Mainboard? Coretemp?

Coretemp is the best to compare as it is using the temp sensors on the CPU itself and not just some randomly placed mainboard probe that can vary by manufacturer.

As for me, running at 25C Idle, 51C load measured via Coretemp. I am on a e6600 OCed to 3.2 w/1.4875v. Cooler is a Zalman 9500 w/AS5 Paste (which seemed to make an amazing difference as my e6400 OCed to 2.8 was at 37C Idle and 55C load).

I get full load temps of 51C at 3.4GHz E6600 at 1.4625v and Scythe Ninja. Stuffed in an Antec 900 with the fans on low. This is with Coretemp.

Well I reseated the HS and performed a little cable management. I still have the side panel off because I don't think these old LianLi cases had enough airflow, no side or top vents.

With Core Temp I'm running idle at 28C and under load (3.2OC at 1.325V) I get up to around 48C. Having the side panel on ups the temp by at least 5C so I think I'll run with it off for now.

e6600, oc'd to 3.2, Tuniq Tower 120 in an Antec nine hundred. Coretemp shows idle at 19-21C, and after playing a game for a little over an hour the temp log never went over 37C.

wtf? do you live in an icy dungeon man?

My E6600's temp in the bios shows about 28 to 30C idle. Running with Tuniq and Lian-PC-V 2100B Plus II. I think 40C is a bit high "to me". ;)
