It should be able to get 400MHz. (Quad pumped = 1600MHz FSB, 3.2GHz core). How much higher could it go on air? I'd try it myself but my mobo is capped at 300, trying to buy a Abit IP35 Pro soon.

Looked at the OC sticky, 587.5 looked like the highest.
 
I have an older chip (B2 stepping I think) and I can't get past 380fsb. I've tried it on both a badaxe 1 and a IP-35 E. I usually just clock it at a 333fsb because I don't have great cooling.
 
I've made it to 450Mhz true FSB (1800Mhz quad pumped) with an E6420, and the extra cache on the E6x20 chips seems to limit their speed compared with the E6x00 chips.
 
I'm running 438 FSB stable with pretty good temps (hovering low 40s idle, mid 50s load) and I love it, although eventually I'm going to have to dump this old chip (by old I mean almost a year old :p).
 
I'm at 3.01ghz with a 375fsb, and it's running hot with stock cooler + Arctic Silver 5. 43C idle and 59C under load. Can't get past 378fsb with my motherboard.
 
I run my E6400@3.4Ghz which is 425mhz bus. I have dropped the multiplier and gotten the FSB up to 450 or 475 stably. However, with my Gigabyte P965DS3 board, when you hit a FSB that high it changes a lot of the timings which in some cases might cause a bit of a slowdown with the processor compared to using a higher multiplier and lower FSB.

I cannot budge past 3.4Ghz with mine no matter what I do. It's rock solid stable at that speed but if I bump it up anymore than that the CPU isn't stable. This is also on water.

I was able to run it at 3.2Ghz on the stock cooler during the winter when it's freezing in my apartment. That overclock never would have lasted as the CPU was already running at 64-65C. Luckily I got a waterblock and hooked up my old EXOS before the heat hit so I was able to bump it up to 3.4Ghz with 55-60C full load temps. The differences are due to what the ambient temp is.
