I'm going to be upgrading really soon, especially since I just got my tax return today =D

And I'm having a trouble finding information, if the extra cache the E6600 has really helps or not. I've heard people say it makes all the difference and others say you'll never notice. I'd even consider the E6400, I plan on over clocking. Suggestions, comments? Thanks =D

The ram I'm getting:

The E6400 is a better choice than either of them for overclocking IMO. It is $100 less than the E6600 and for only $35 more than the E6300 will go to a higher overclock. In terms of price/performance I think that one is the best. To get a really good overclock out of a E6300 you have to go faster than 500 FSB. Of course the Ballistix memory you are looking at will easily do that, but will your motherboard? That is the question You "only" have to take the E6400 to 450 MHz which is a nice, safe speed easily reached with a decent motherboard and some overclockable memory. And E6600 will work at the "stock" memory speed of 400 FSB, which is an advantage if you are buying real cheap memory. But it is $100 more than E6400.

The Crucial Ballistix memory is a great choice but if you look at the hot deals section there is Buffalo Firestix memory for $169 that also has the Micron D9GMH chips same as Ballistics. That would be $75 less than what you are budgeting. Check it out. Memory prices are in free fall now and getting cheaper by the day which is good for you.

Power supply is fine. That is a nice price on that unit.

yep e6400 for max OC.

Man thats expensive ram with good timings, (which wont matter a whole lot) but 2.2V to get that at PC6400 ? Hopefully thats more of a "this memory will scream at 2.2V" not a "this memory requires 2.2V to make the published specs".

Stay away from P965 boards with that stuff.

I should have said, I'm most likely going with a 680i board, most likely the evga.

I don't have to go with that ram, I just knew it had good chipset and the evga mobo liked it. Trust me, I'd rather go with cheaper ram. And cheaper anything that I can get away with =P

You're right the Crucial memory is owned by Micron and of course they use the excellent D9 memory chips. You can't go wrong buying from Crucial they are top notch. But other companies do too and Buffalo is one of them. Buffalo seems to have become the price leader for D9 based RAM in recent days.
