I'm looking for some OC recommended settings for my E5200. I have a Gigabyte EP43-UD3L. My PSU is a good BFG 550W. RAM is G.Skill DDR2 800.

I'm not sure if this helps but when I overclocked my e4300 to 3.0ghz on stock everything all I did was raise the FSB and switch the divider to a 1:1 Ratio.
 
I just downgraded my q6600 to a e5200 and it overclocked like crazy on stock voltages watercooled. I was able to get to 3.50 on stock voltage with nothing but a FSB bump, OCCT stable. 3.60 Fails OCCT, and I am not ready to bump up the voltage at this time.
 
If you can get 3.5GHz, then 3.0 GHz seems fine for me. I have a XIGMATEK Dark Knight and good air cooling which should be plenty. I don't want to overvolt just yet. Which BIOS settings should I change to get a 1:1 ratio at around 3.0GHz?
 
You just need to adjust the FSB accordingly and be sure your RAM is up to the task as well. You can adjust the RAM ratio as well to keep it lower or higher, it depends on the bios as to which option you would use to do this. On my P35 Gigabyte board I adjust the RAM ratio from anywhere from 2.0 to 4.0 which is the FSB speed multiplied times the RAM ratio.

I.E. 280FSB x 12.5CPU Multiplier = 3.500GHZ for the processor, 280FSB x 3.33RAM Multiplier = 932 Mhz for the RAM speed.

I think the 1:1 ratio he is referring to is for the RAM. Which he is probably meaning the DDR800 speed(4.0multiplier for the ram) + the overclock for the ram. In my expierience the RAM overclock is not nearly as beneficial as the CPU overclock, and not to mention RAM tends to have much more problems/degradation overclocked than CPU's.

What should I have my RAM settings at for that particular model of memory? I don't want to damage my RAM.

If you set the RAM divider to 1:1, it won't increase your RAM.

Thanks everyone! I have more than enough information now. I'll sort through all of it and start trying things out. I'll post my results such as temps,speed, and stability when I'm through :D
 
I had 4.0ghz on a E5200, failed prime after a couple of hours but temps were good and just needed more volts I think... I settled on 3.6ghz at close to stock volts :)
