e4500 vs. e2180

If I were you I would e-mail the manufacturer of the motherboard you plan on buying and ask if that new cpu is expected to boot up properly in that motherboard without needing a bios update first. That way you'll have a response in writing from the manufacturer that you can remind them of if there is a problem. Us anonymous internet folk can say anything, but if we're wrong it's hard to hold our feet to the fire:D. Not to discount contributions on forums like this, but in this case we're talking about a cpu that hasn't been released yet, so noone here will have actual experience with it yet.

Good Idea. I think i'll do that.

Btw, I was thinking. Aren't the "first wave" of a new CPU usually buggy and bad (compared to later models)? If that's the case then wouldn't I want to hold off on getting an e7200 until the bugs are worked out?

Thanks.

Lol well sorry. Just asking a question. I figured this would be the last place I shoud be afraid to ask a question due to fear of stupidity but I guess not...

edit: well to me it sounded like "This guy is so dumb, i'm not even gonna bother with this post anymore."

Sorry for the misunderstanding then.:p

I don't know if anyone mentioned this to you yet, but you can use the Thread Tools dropdown box at the top of the page to subscribe to a thread. You don't have to post in it.

While perhaps the first edition of a new process might have problems, the 45nm process has been around long enough that the probability of any problems with a new CPU using the process, like the E7200, is very, very low. I never heard of any problems with the E8400 or E8500, and those are both 45nm.

as for the '/subscribe' thing, I assumed it was a bash. I go on the cal forums (www.caleague.com) a lot and they're a bit more aggressive in their forums sometimes so I just assumed something without thinking. sorry.

As for the e7200, it's a possibility now I guess. It will be pretty pricey for my taste.

How much better would an e7200 be then an e4500? 10%? 20%?

It could really go either way I guess. I've actually loosened up on when I need to upgrade. April 28th i'm actually ordering my laptop for college/ect then so hopefully that will keep my attention and hold me off on an upgrade for my gaming rig.

I'm hoping the e7200 goes down in price, i'll probably pick that up then since I see it goes to 3.8ghz.

E4500 if it drops to $100 or less it will be a steal i have mine currently operating @ 300x11 or 3.3ghz @ 1.35 vcore and nothing else raised with temps in the 29-32 @ idle and 50-60 @ load i believe if you have a better cooler then what i have or willing to deal with higher temps then at the very least 3.5 ghz is attainable which is a great OC for a $100 processor with performance equivalent to and E8500 or faster
its just a great buy forget about the e7200 unless its $150 or less otherwise its too expensive for a mere 300mhz extra oc capability.
