hey guys,

I've Overclocked my E4400 to 3.0ghz, 1.375v

Coretemp on prime95 v25.4

60-65 degrees without aircon , room temp is around 24-26 degrees

Rig config:

E4400
Thermalright Ultra120 + normal 120mm fan
Asus P5B

With my HSF, i should be getting better temps right?
I've tried remounting the HSF a few times, and the results are the same
The HSF is lapped till it sees copper, and its smooth and reflects quite clearly.

first of all, wtf is aircon? please don't use acronyms like that.

and yes, you shoudl be getting better temps...what is your airflow in your comp? what thermal paste are you using? what 120mm fan and what is the flow of air rate?

first of all, wtf is aircon?.
I think it means air conditioner.

Anyway:
- How much thermal paste did you put on the CPU?
- What case are you using?
- Please denote which temperature you're using, Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- What's the make and model of that "normal" 120mm fan
- What program are you using to monitor temps?
- Are there any wires or cable that might impede airflow inside your case?

sorry for the lack of details..
and yup i meant air conditioner in the room.

- How much thermal paste did you put on the CPU? i placed a dot on the chip and mounted the heatsink on it. I've taken it out to take a look and it seems to spread well with that method
- What case are you using? - I'm using a lian li (OEM) aluminum case
- Please denote which temperature you're using, Celsius or Fahrenheit. Celsius
- What's the make and model of that "normal" 120mm fan Not sure about the model, it's the fan that came along with my casing, will be looking to change the fan to a panaflo / delta
- What program are you using to monitor temps? core temp 0.95.4 beta
- Are there any wires or cable that might impede airflow inside your case? I've tried my best to clear the wires to the side of the casing allowing better airflow.

approximately what kind of temp should i be expecting from this heatsink with my overclock?

If your room's ambient air temperature is 24 - 26C... then I'm not surprised you're getting 65C load temps.

O RLY?

To get to 3.4ghz, my e4400 needs 1.55v

1.375 is nothing.

60 - 65C with coretemp is fine - especially with that kind of ambient room temps.

60-65 is fine even with the thermalright 120ultra?

what cooler should i get if i wanna bring the temp to 50-55C.?

btw, do i get alot of difference between 2.85ghz and 3.0ghz, since i'm able to get my system stable on stock(1.3v) on 2.85ghz, with load temps at 50-55C

if i could get a cooler that will bring the temp down by quite abit, then i guess i'll try to bring the overclock up to 3.2ghz.
